Orientation is better organized and less annoying than CRE was.:)
We also don't wander around looking for what lie we have to wait in ... then introduce ourselves to the bored paper pusher then move to the next one.
Less people to deal with and a little less hassle.
My wife likes the truck we picked out.

Don't be surprised if you get called back to the terminal after 11 days of training even though recruiters talk about three or four weeks of OTR training... you wouldn't be the first person it's happened to. And watch out for Julie on night dispatch because I don't think that chick is firing off on all cylinders. That being said, TransAm isn't the worst company to work for. You'll hear the good, the bad and the ugly about EVERY company out there, but as a driver, you have to figure out what works for you. Be wary of leasing as they push hard as soon as you come back to the terminal from being out with a trainer and leasing has the potential to break you faster than company does. But there are people who are happily leasing. My boyfriend currently drives for TransAm and TransAm is probably my first choice when I get my CDL next month as well ((it's slim pickings for a student because I live in the heart of a dead zone)). Gotta give them credit for having nice equipment though. My boyfriend landed himself in a T700 with only 41k on it. It's had a couple issues but overall is a really nice truck. Can't wait to see those T680s on the road though!

I was listening to a recruiter babble on today about it being 3 weeks OTR training when I knew darn well that wasn't what actually happens. Oh, and she said it's three days of orientation and then you're on the road for three weeks of a trainer. They don't tell you that you'll be holed up in the hotel over the weekend and then still have some classroom time before going out. I have no problems going with TransAm, I'm just not buying into the recruiter BS. On a brighter note, I told B to request a load to Texas ((he was sitting in Tampa on Monday and needed 1000+ miles to make a decent week after they gave him 5 days of home time he did not want which resulted in a -$700 paycheck this week)) and we were pleasantly surprised that yesterday morning there was a load to Texas for him. That resulted in him driving near enough to home that we were able to spend time together and enjoy dinner last night and breakfast this morning before he had to take off again. As much as he gripes about the planners lack of competency, I told him that it's nice to know that they can at least show some effort to take a driver's requests into consideration and to shut up and be happy that he got a homecooked dinner and an 1100 mile run out of it. :biggrin_2559:
