My last student had a buddy that they installed an inverter on his '16 freightliner. He had it done at the Phoenix terminal. Some of the bigger terminals should install them if you ask.
What kind of freight does Swift have? Am I going to be unloading at every DG in every podunk town from Ocala to Huntsville?
Only if you are on that account. They have walmart, target, dollar general, lowes, general mills, georgia pacific, costco to name a few. I was dry van.
I have watched youtubes of swift trucker youtubers... they have all said when asked this question there is no APU to run and your not allowed to idle more than 30 mins .. the truck turns off at the 30 min mark they do have a limited epu that runs a cabin heater (be careful it will cook you lol) no ac ... a electric cooler might survive the time if never opened but no refrigerator works without power. I have been doing alot of reading and watching since I too will be getting my cdl from them here in texas. all I can say consider team driving that way when you sleep the person drives so the truck is running all the time hope this helps
Never heard of the 30 minute rule. Swift wants you to idle as little as possible. But if i am in a hot area and cannot sleep..i am idling the truck. They never said anything. I always sent in a message to my driver leader saying what and why i am idling. Every model truck is differant in how you can bypass the idle shutoff. Ask another driver or someone in the shop. If you idle alot your fuel bonus will be affected but my sleep and comfort is more important. As far as cold weather.. i never idle. Bunk heater keeps me warm and the extra blankets help
It depends on the temperature. I think 80 and fifteen degrees are the cutoff points. If you are between those two temperatures the truck will turn off after about 5 minutes. All Swift trucks have bunk heaters you can use to stay warm when the truck is off. However, if it's below 15 degrees you are required to keep your truck running at all times so the fuel won't gel. If it's over 80 you can idle the truck but obviously they'd like you to keep it to a minimum if possible. We get multiple Qcom messages from Phoenix during extreme temperature seasons explaining this. You shouldn't be too hot or cold in a Swift truck.
is it okay to truck to a cooler state instead?? ... I live in Texas it is HOT almost all the time. I dont mind driving to a place that is under 75
In my experience.. they would send me to northwest and would stsy up thrte for abit. Then get a load south and stay there abit. Seems they like to me to stay in onr area. I was on the western 11and this was 1.5 yrs ago
