Starting DCCC in Mocksville in 2 Weeks

This is some of the stuff I've learned so far:

• Dispatchers are born of the devil.
• If a recruter is breathing, they're lying.
• Trucking companies lie, most the time.
• Expect to work much longer that you are told you will.
• Your pay may not be less than your originally told it will be.
• Your going to be hot when its hot
• Your going to be cold when its cold
• Its over regulated
• No matter what you are as a person, your not worth dirt until you gain experience and not worth much more in a companies eyes when you do, but most companies will not hire you until you have experience.
• You'll rarely if ever going to be allowed to come home.
• And ol' yes, "When you become a truck driver even your mom will even lie to you".

Needless to say that some of the post regarding dispatchers and companies and so no are less than staller in there nature.
On the other side I have a friend that is a tanker driver, and has been very valuable to me to helping sorting out the whiners BS, from the facts about trucking and what to really expect out there.
The school I'll be attending has several companies who recrute only the top 5 from each class, so I'll work as hard as I can to make that level. I've already passed the tanker, doubles and hazmat endorsement test in preparation for school, along with my permit. I plan to put myself in as good of a position as I can in light of being a newbie.
I understand that Newbie's must build up road experience due to trucking being an experience based work field. There are some companies who have operations in Charlotte NC, where I'll be working out of and have training programs I'm looking at, and they also recrute in my school.
As I start school I will post on how it goes.

 

Yea thanks man. I think to get on with only the school experiance I'll have to go with a Mega, at least for a while.

 

I plan to do well. I'm not one to settle for second and I want that #1 class spot. Those above points are really a joke. I'll be working to seperaite myself on the first day of class from those who will end up at the bottom feeder companies.

 

Took my pee test yesterday for my driving school, as long as coffee don't raise a flag I'll be fine.
I tell you one thing, if you got some hang-up about Big-Brother and the government knowing your business, DON'T BE A TRUCKER. They know it all between Hazmat background & fingerprints, TWIC & DMV you'll have nothing private when they get done.

 

Here is one of their school trucks. The sleeper has 3 or 4 seats in it I think. they have 4-5 trucks that are different color schemes but all look kind of like this one.
