Depends on your gearing, trucks with 2.64 gears for example will be able to get more speed in low range while my truck has 4.10 gears for heavy haul and so my 1st gear would be like taking off in low on a normal truck if I try taking off in low with mine it only gets up to 3mph and so by the time I can ram it into 1st the trucks already heading backwards, 18 speeds come in handy for lots of hill driving like here in Washington and Oregon or when I go to British Columbia
