Agree on the too fast. Especially with wiggle wagons on ice!
Just glad he missed the car....That could have been really bad.

On another of winter's night, I am going up the NJTP at or around the Carteret area, and back then (and maybe still now) the NJTP had "ruts" in the right and middle lanes from all the truck traffic. Well it WAS raining, then the further north I went, it turned to ice. NOW, those ruts can make you go "side to side" and I had doubles then as well. Now I hit that ice, and man I gotta tell you, again at or about 1 AM, you had better NOT be bored. I pulled over for a bit, the shoulder was wide enough, and I'd say about 30 minutes later, the salt shakers were coming. I left a few minutes later. Again, no time to be bored, with same ole, same ole.

The GW Bridge, Cross Bronx and the ever loving state of CT laid ahead. And for another time. I don't want to "bore" anyone further tonight.

Tonythetruckerdude and EZ Money Thank this.

My first time pulling doubles was up hwy 29 through Virginia, freezing rain then snow.
Talk about sweaty hands and sore neck from being tense all night...I got to Jersey and felt like I had driven 2 days straight!

How did I learn how to pull doubles, you asked?

I was told to go with driver x, watch him, he will help you here set up and down in NJ, taking them apart.

Know what he said to me?

    DON'T LOOK IN YOUR MIRRORS!

    210 miles of shear hell!

One way or another, apathy will take over, and you will soon become just another statistic that reflects badly on the trucking industry. I don't mean to be mean, but find another job.

I've dealt with incidents because of apathy before. I used to work for FedEx Express loading and unloading aircraft and have seen more than I care to of accidents. People not paying attention. It only takes one split second of not fully paying attention and you're whole week (if you're lucky) is ruined.

As a supervisor, part of my job was to make sure that my guys never stopped paying attention to the little details of the job. If things went wrong, we were talking hundreds of thousands of dollars lost (at best).

There are no supervisors in trucking. It's all going to be on me to make sure that I stay safe.

I promise if you get really really bored, then really sleepy, you'll have all the excitement you can handle!...You're driving to make a paycheck so you can support and be with your loved ones(unless single, than to support a hooker and beer habit), excitement is something you want to see, not be...

Can you explain to me why you think you're a better driver than some of my co-workers that have 30 years safe driving? That's 30 years of hauling gasoline in the city and the last 20 years have been in a super tanker. I'll just put it to you this way. If you think you'll never be complacent while driving or working then you do not need to be in a truck. With an attitude like that the terminal I load at would run you off.

Wow 6 pages of nothing but crap. OP yes this job is boring as ####. But if you are creative you can make the time pass by. For me counting the miles/money keeps me going. Audiobooks, music, calling people, etc..And imagining my daughter calling me a loser because i cant feed her gets me through as well.. Lol
