As far as trucks go wit the economy the way it is they did not get a whole lot of new trucks last year and had to keep some of the trucks longer but they still wont be over 4 years old. Your truck will just depend on what they have at the terminal you test out at. If all they have is 07 t600 you will get one of them if not you will get a t2000 which could be a 05 or 06 doubt they would let you have one of the 08 or 09 t2000 just starting out. If you get a older truck when they go to getting new ones you might luck up and get a new one your first year of driving. I know when i started i had 02 t2000 and after 6 months they gave me a new 06 t2000 then last february i turned it in for a new 09 t2000.

Hey there thanks alot sketch long time no see, glad things worked out for you i am going to mti on the 9th and your info helped alot.gonna check out the web site, for pics and idea, just a question though what is a 3 stage jake brake??
-
Lol sorry gonnabe....ya know that loud rumble ya hear when a truck is slowing down? thats a jake break. it assist in slowing the vehicle down especially down long hills, that way you don't wear down the brakes. Not all trucks have them, last place i worked for didn't have jake brakes and it makes a huge difference. just another perk to millis. If you have any other questions i'll be around until monday the 2nd. then i'm out for about a month. good luck to ya

hey sketch
how ya doing?
im up here in ritchfield, wi
sorry to hear about your hotel stay
up here we are at the super 8 about 10 minutes from the terminal
its real clean , pool, hot tub, fridge in the room
couldnt come up with something negative to say if i tried
we have 6 in the class but only 5 are coming to millis
one of the guys is from the state of wi. and works for the utilities company and is only here to get his license
so how long was it from the time you went out with your trainer till you got your truck?
im graduating next friday...it really went by fast
next week will probable go by even faster since we arent doing much classroom stuff anymore
then its 3 days of orientation
i told them id be willing to go right out with a trainer but if one isnt available right away ill take my pickup truck back home and meet my trainer on the road
what ever is easier for all of us i guess
how was your time with your trainer?
did you guys end up making each other nuts or did time go by pretty fast?
did your trainer stop to go home along the way for any amount of time or did you stay out the whole time?
how was the driving split up ? does he actually sit up there next to you the whole time or did it end up becoming more like team driving where one guy was sleeping and one driving?
up here we have harold for an instructor...real nice guy
next week they had plans for us to run to georgia but now we are going to black river instead
im sort of glad we arent going to georgia...6 guys plus an instructor heading to georgia didnt sound like ti would be tons of fun
not to mention that some of the guys arent quite getting the driving thing just yet so being on the road can be a little scary
running into off ramps out of gear with the instructor hollering "slow the truck down" as we all stare down embankments can give you thrills i wasnt quite prepared for
i jump out of planes for fun and im not scared a bit...this on the other hand is a different story...
hmmm....reminder to self....call wife and make sure policy is paid up
you take care and if your up this way stop in and say hi -
Hey Sketch ,
First let me say a big thanks for all the info. The question from Chriss pretty much is what on my mind this morning, that and any info on the set up of the ohio class. Good to hear from you too Chris as the excitement is begining to build on getting this thing going, so far in our class there is four of us on here,
Bluefreeze, TruckerJeff, Dirt and myself which is real good as we all are watching and learning from you guys. Jake brake, lol the cdl book called them engine brakes, so now i got a better idea, and as far as working them I am sure I will get the hang of that. I am extremely glad from all the post i have read on here about how well their schooling is and the company in general. Everytime I go by the TA here in Gary, IN and i see a Millis rig I go and try to talk to the driver. Last time was a guy named Valkin ?? anyway has been with you guys for six years now since he trained in Ohio, nice enough guy real helpful.. Says this was the first time he had to wait for a load for a whole day! Which don't know is a good sign or not, but someone staying with them is!! Spanky has been with them for four years, and another guy i talked to at the TA was two i believe. Ok rambling here once again thanks and looking forward to your response -
As far as the jake brake goes all you do is flip a switch and it turns on then when you let off the gas pedal it kicks in unless you it the clutch or brake pedal. you have another switch that controls what stage it is on; 1st stage is weakest and third stage is the strongest.
gonnabe Thanks this. -
Hey:

Are you guys driving yourselves to MTI? -
