Man you'll be fine. Many before you have done the same thing and are living the dream, lol. Yea it's a cost unfortunately you have to bear, but once you get out of training pay status and go solo you'll be just fine. I'm sure the numbers look discouraging now because of the bills, take home figures, etc...There are several on here that went through the same thing.

Ryeman went through it and has been solo just a couple of months. Also I think Baritone did the same. I'm sure they will chime up on it for you. Stay positive my man, all will be fine.

If they accepted you to go to school, basically you are hired unless you flunk out of school and just cannot drive, or if you fail the drug test. They don't schedule you unless they plan on hiring you.

    I hope this helps ya

Take a deep breath - relax. Its the same with just about every company that offers training. Swift, Stevens, Werner, Rohel etc.

Everyone that had no experience (me included) had to do the same things. You'll see a deduction of 20 a week for the training and 10 a week for the hotel. If you stay 1 year from your hire date the remaining is forgiven. So there really is no need to pay that off early, unless you just really want too. Greg will explain all this too you in detail when you get there and especially when you complete training and go through orientation. Also your training can assist with any questions regarding your pay stubbs once you get going.

The only other deductions you could have is if you draw money against your check (which I dont suggest) but some do it. Also if you purchase addtional clothing like jackets and stuff. I purchased an inverter for my truck and they deducted it from my check each week until it was paid off. So now that inverter is mine if I was to ever leave the company.

I would be willing to bet you that once you go solo you'll run enough miles that you wont really notice the 30.00 deductions.

You're starting in the better times to be a driver - freight will really start booming soon and you'll be just fine!

Any other questions - just let us know.

Just a quick update - I'll be back later today to reply to questions directed my way.
Thanks to Bear and Baritone for answering the questions.

We (I believe) were graded yesterday on the backing manuvers. I'm sure I passed. Should be out in the yard for a bit again today; showing Greg what he's been missing from our side of class - they got in early yesterday morning and took the day off. We might go joyriding (shifting practice and turns and such) for a bit later today. Still have yet to watch a few videos and there's still a bit of quizzes we need to review.

Nice meeting Sully out on the yard yesterday. I'll be looking for Bear today - I think I saw your truck there yesterday but with all these numbers to remember ... kinda lost, you know?

No sorry to say that wasn't me. I may be through there tomorrow though. I'm south of Atlanta taking my 10 so they may send me that way. Truck #7077, I'm a good looking fat guy, lol. Just kidding.

That's how I looked at it. 1 yr pays for trainer, training pay paid me back for school and I paid for the motel which =is a cheap education

Well, it turns out I was right - completed the backing test by the time of my last update (passed with only one pull-up for all combined). We were back out again, as previously stated, and in the #62 truck - all of us grinding and most of us parking; while some still had issues - no names (they'll get it eventually :biggrin_25525:)

Got my $15 limited edition hat today as a graduation present to myself - blue flames.

Nice to meet ya today Bear. Glad to see so many drivers don't forget where they came in and it's also nice to know that a lot of previous students have a helping hand out to those of us comming up. You know to most people they might just give a hand back when needed.

Now, waiting again, of course (like I didn't see that happening - it's the industry, right?) for a trainner to contact with. Have to get the orentiation next week, pee test (studing for - per Greg), and more forms - but they're an indication I'm getting a check weekly from now on! Sweet.

Yes, I'll still be here with updates. Yes I'll have questions still - most posted here.
I forgot to check in at the one month mark and note the number of members to view this thread. A week short of, I had over 125; now at 137. I hope it's been informative.

    Happy Trails out there.
