True enough, I won't be changing the tire - but I will have to get out to examine which tire is out and ensure the repairs are acceptable.

when you get in your own truck i would keep the hard hat because some of the breweries will want you to have it to go in the plant. if you dont have yours you would have to use theres they let everyone else use also.

Good tip! Since I have yet to go into a brewery I wouldn't have considered it.

yeah when you take dunnage back or anything you have to go inside and get paper work signed you will need it. Not all breweries care but some do.

Well I care! I'm not a stickler for some things, but safety is safety. Besides, I'd feel like the odd one in the bunch if everyone else had theirs..

Thanks Spanky * you guys are the best! *

I also thought of another good reason to wear a rain suit - precipitation isn't the only way to get wet -- in fact it could even stop raining and I bet you $100 if I'm parking (not by choice) near puddles, or directly after a heavy downpour and there's a bunch of runoff - I know I've made huge waves in all my 4-wheelers (some twice as big as my car) and they can get at least a lane's distance over sometimes...

TallGuy - any luck with the SS office?

I got a letter from Millis on Sat.; they sent me a conformation for my class payment. I was too excited when I saw the envelope - then I opened it. I guess I was looking for something more, but at least I got a reply rather than waiting five more weeks to find out they never processed my payment. 36 days and counting...

    Anyone else joining my class?

Also, I'm going to be posting a lot to this thread (I'd like to be able to pm by the time I get out on the road, so some of the daily posts are going to seem, well, you'll see)

Ok - it's time for another

"SERIOUS ROUND OF QUESTIONS" - todays sponsor 'The letter opener'

[open to all active drivers employed by my future employeer - Millis Transfer]

    QUESTION #1:
At what point during initial, follow-on, or after training do you get to choose OTR, Reg., or Dedicated?

    QUESTION #2:
Are there any options for team driving? I would guess OTR is only team if it's the cross county outfit, but maybe there's 'eastern reg. OTR' that's solo?

    QUESTION #3:
I recieved a LAND LINE mag the other day in the mail from another 'school' that I was looing into. In it there was a section on tire tread and reading tire signs relating to early wear. I'm guessing that the peridoic maintence facilites check for these things, but do they have some class time instruction for spotting these type of things?

    QUESTION #4:
Also, another good point in the above mentioned mag; Do you get to chose the trailer(s) you pull and/or can you request to have them checked for alignment prior to accepting them? I was reading where a trailor can pull to one side causing extra wear on trailer tires and costing you gas - from things as simple as curbing too much to faulty repairs on damaged structural parts (like superheating and stretching instead of replacing).

The only time you get to pick a trailer is when you are somewhere and drop a load and there is more than one empty trailer there. No they will not align a trailer for you if you ask them. Most of our trailers do not dog leg that bad and the ones that due you can think some of our fellow drivers for. Usually it is only the older trailers that dog leg bad and usually to the right from making tight turns hitting curbs. As heavy as most of our loads are they do not say anything to you about fuel mileage they are more concerned about idle time than anything.
