Well tonight I'm packing, making a checklist, last minuet shopping for some supplies. What's the cost of the Rand McNally book at school; is it the deluxe edition or just paperback? Few other odds/ins to collect and hopefully this guy is coming to get the tv tonight - stay tuned. Ah to be in love with a new career on V-day.. :p
Who else here is coming to class I wonder? I'll be sure to tell Greg all good things about the ones that have been here helping me along - thanks so much. Of course I'll cont. posting with updates and such. Pictures too, taking my camera with me. Would be nice to get a few pics of mechanical things to reference to for studying as well. If only my computer would act right - I'd be almost set for bear. Bought a flattop griddle for the stay at the hotel; can't and won't live on just a microwave alone.

Well, aside from about two items on my check-list, in less than 36hrs I'll be having lunch on my first day at the C'ville location MTI with Greg and other wanabe truckers. By Wensd. we should all be glorified steering holders, and with any luck I'll be a smooth shifter by Fri. Grind 'em till ya find 'em.

Maybe I should get one of those reflective stickers for my truck - "Student driver". That'd keep most four-wheelers at bay, you think?

I don't know about Cartersville, but at Trenton we had to buy our own atlas. They don't have them at the school. Any truck stop, price depends on which version you buy. Laminated, not laminated. Laminated I believe was $29 when I bought mine last year. They used to offer large scale atlas but I don't think its available any more.

I paid my $100 yesterday. I didn't take the time to ask some questions. Maybe you can answer some for me.
Do they pay for the bus ride there or do I have to make my own arrangements?
Will I receive anything in the mail confirming my seat in their school and concerning what I'll need to bring with me?
I also wonder if when we are finished the school, how long it will be before we get assigned a trainer.
I'm pretty fired up about getting started. I'm getting my DOT Physical out of the way next week and studying for my permit. I'm not too worried about the permit test, the pre-trip is a different story. I have some loose ends that I need to get taken care of before I head out. Selling some un-needed things to acquire much needed cash to have on hand during the school.

You paid $100 for an atlas? Ouch! They will ask you in school how soon you want to go out after you're finished with orientation. They will match you up as soon as they can. You should receive confirmation in the mail.

They will pay for your transportation if you're taking a bus.

don't fret the pre-trip. The instructor will go over it with you guys/gals in depth. You'll get it down.

Went there in 2003 at the time it was far and away best deal. Great instructors, probably different now. THE KEY is to try to be towards the top of the class, sounds like you can do it. you make good money starting the day the driver trainer trainer releases to go solo. the top potential students get the best driver trainers because successful students make them more money. Live in the truck and gross $1000 a week. Stay in touch with the instructors they are the top dogs in the company and can teach you how to make money.
the people in BRF mosty ##### holes but they will run you once they see you can get it done

    good luck and welcome

The atlas you can get at the TA or Pilot which are at the exit you will be training at. Bear was correct - I paid 29.00 for mine and it's laminated.

Take one night and try the wings at the bar at the end of the street. They are too die for!

Congrats and if I get through there I'll look for you all.

Let me see if I can help.......

    1. Bus ride I am not sure about since I drove my own car.
    2. You will get an e-mail from Mike Millis outlining everything you'll need to bring and so on. Should get it very soon. If not call them and they'll tell you.
    3. You'll most likely know who your OTR Trainer is before class is over. Most of the time you can go right out with your trainer depending on how close he is too you at the time. I waited one day and then left with mine.

When you get to training - go to the Pilot and get a rewards card. Youll need this for showers and such. TA you can do on line and it's mailed too you. Do it now so you'll have them when you fuel with your trainer.

Good luck and let me/us know if you have anymore questions!
