I guess Rockwall is the overflow location. Orientation is extremely low stress.
Day 1: Drug screen, road test and new hire paperwork. Road test is simple...about 2 miles.
Day 2:Comdata set-up, insurance, payroll.
Day 3:Activate Comdata card, testing package, logging, trip planning, assigning of coaches.
Breakfast is at hotel. Lunch is subway on weds & fri, pizza thurs. Dinner is on you. Look earlier in the thread for dinner options I found while here.
Any other questions feel free to ask. I'll do my best.

yes lifeboat keep us informed ill be there wednesday for my orientation. The one thing that puzzles me is why do we have to take a general knowledge test ? cause the paper they sent me sounds like im a new student without a CDL license but i already got mine, yes i could use more practice driving but everything else i got, well maybe they just wanna make sure i know everything so its all good
-
I haven't spent any real time in them yet. But I will certainly let you know.

In my opinion, everyone should learn manual trans and drive manual trans until very proficient. When I was a company driver, it was an 18 speed in an FLD Freightliner. Then it was a 13 speed in a Volvo (lease), then I got my own Authority and my 1st truck, a Freightliner Century Class had a 10 speed. My current truck (picture below) has a ten speed with autoshift. It was a leap of faith when I bought it, didn't know for sure if I'd like it really. Took a bit getting used to. Sometimes I miss shifting....nah, I love my autoshift

yes gears i wish it was a manual transmission cause thats what i learned to drive in school, but ill deal with it cause i got to start somewhere so i can get my experience
Gears Thanks this. -
They won't start pushing the lease on you till after your out of your trainers trk and are testing out in Olathe. Rockwall is not an "overflow" yard, they just go thru so many people a week, that 2 places are needed.
Insurance is the same for company or lease unless you completely go outside the box and purchase your onw insurance.
You will NOT have a choice on what setting to run your reefer on. You will get that info in your "load info" and will get hourly reminders to either set it "right" or to call your DM. IF BOL calls for something different than what TA says, be prepared to fax the bol in. Drvrs are NOT allowed to make decisions in this company!!! With some that I have run into and have helped, I can understand that. Course, they treat their experienced drivers the same way.
Saturday was my last day with them. YEA!!!! If you have any questions, will try to answer them for you and will even try to keep my opinions out of it. lol123456 Thanks this. -
Why did you leave?
-
Short answer is, I want to find a company, that actually believes that their drivers are of value to them and treat them like adults. Got tired of being treated as child after a while.
