I would'nt worry so much about getting a cb right now. That's aways down the road.Just focus on getting your CDL.One thing you may wanna do before you leave if you already have'nt done so is get your cdl permit. You'll need it before driving with an instructor.Hope you have money saved because you're going to need it.Anyway good luck with training and central, you'll do fine.

Congratulations. Been talking to them and have all my paperwork in. I tried to book out that far they said I couldn't. Can I ask for your recruiter. What made you decide on Central versus the others?
    Appreciate any assistance.

Travel light while training, It's a PITA to transfer your stuff from motel to terminal to truck to motel to another truck to greyhound bus to motel to house to truck etc etc etc.

When are you going to start Tats man? My wife and I start in Salt Lake City on April eighth. I feel like Central Refrigerated is a good choice and have done a lot of research on the different companies that offer company paid training. Obviously there is a lot I don't know but we are planning on having enough money to cover four weeks. From what I gather from day one until you test for your CDL is only about two to three weeks, then you get paired up with a driver trainer for the next four to five weeks. This training is paid but it takes a week to get your first check so that's how I figured on the four weeks worth of food money. Also sixty bucks for CDL permit. After that you get upgraded to company driver and off you go. Not sure if there will be a week without a paycheck between OTR training and heading out by ourselves but we're planning on saving as much as possible during training to cover expenses until our regular checks start coming.
Does this sound like the right expectations for any of you Central drivers that just recently went through training? The "Follow me through Central Refrigerated" thread has been a big help with some great information.
    Best of luck to you!

Thx for response. Plan on staring end of April. Deciding between central & prime. Like you have spent time to research & ask q's. compared bennies & cost, co customers, health of co, etc. Not new to business. I qualify words 'like' don't like. They are subjective. Are trips doable, is co focused on drivers, how well do depts work together etc. look forward to your reply. Been business road warrior for many yrs. Taking it to new different level.

Congrats! I think you will be very impressed with Central out there in Utah! Don't worry about accessories until after your training and you have been upgraded to your own truck. Most of Centrals trucks have antennae's but you will have to buy your own CB and other electronics. Some trucks will already have some stuff in them. Some of the newer trucks have satellite radio already in them.

All trucks are set up different though and you really want to wait to buy all your stuff until you see how its going to all fit in there. Plus you really don't want to lug that stuff around everywhere you go during school and training. Your trainer is going to have limited space so you don't want to pack to much unnecessary stuff.

Hey Chompi, are you now driving for Central? If it's already stated somewhere my apologies. Looking for more details on why yall enjoy Central Ref. Still deciding between Prime/Central. Have all the facts. Based on pay, Prime a no brainer. Then everyone should want to drive for Prime.......or maybe not. Income important, I weigh other factors also.
