Don't back up until the trailer tires hit the curb. Doing so can pinch the mud flap between the curb and the tire,ripping it off, and leaving the mudflap laying on the ground when you pull away.

I even had a cop car back up for me. I wasn't even trying to push him, but he recognized the situation early and played nice.
If you have some 4-wheelers making your right turn too tight, and they are staring at you, then just sit there and wait until they move. Eventually they'll get impatient enough to move on and then you'll have the room. Usually doesn't take long either.
Don't let other people make you feel that you have to rush or move. Do what you need to do when your ready.
