For what its worth. I started the CDl program early November and am running my butt off now with Prime. Got my CDL and am in phase 2 getting my 60K done, with a trainer. As for Prime it has been good and busy. Great equipment and a very professional company. If you drink or dope they will find ya and boot ya. I did have to wait for 5 days to get a trainer but that has been the only gripe.

Busy is good. Makes the time go by fast. I talked with my recruiter again today. He said that we are in the verification stage, but still gave me a date to start. This anticipation is a killer.... :biggrin_2554:

I am applying to Prime and want to know if they have mandotory fuel stops or are the drivers given a choice of where to fuel. I am a company driver and I like to fuel at Love's.

Just fuel where they tell you to. Just hope you can fill the tanks each time and not have to mess with that "fuel optimazation" deal some companies have, like Crete. That's a deal where you may fuel 2-3 times a day, putting maybe 50 gals on board here, then 45 at the next stop etc. Can you say "PITA"? BTW, what's the big attraction to Loves?

We have a fairly extensive fuel network that includes Love's outlets... Flying J is the only large outlet that's not included right now.

Company drivers fuel where our fuel route macro tells us to. Not a big deal. It will give us a 50 - 80 gallon stop sometimes if there is a huge discount a few hundred miles away. Mostly it's fills. You can update the fuel plan by sending another fuel macro once every 24 hours.

For lease-ops, the full network is available... you make your own decisions on where to buy fuel. I wouldn't limit myself to "Love's" if the bill was on my ticket.

I put my application in at prime yesterday and called them today. My recruiter was Angela. She told me they had better qualified applicants. I asked what exactly dismissed me and she told me its because I have 5 months of unemployment in the past 3 years and they won't open applications for me until march of 2011 and only if I show a steady work history from now until then. My dads friend works at Prime and he is going to try to see if there is anything he can do but I'm here to ask you guys if there is anything I can do. I was REALLY hoping to begin going to class for my CDL in January. Are there any other pretty good company's like Prime out there that will train me and everything assuming I don't have a way to pay for it now.

They are rather picky about that - mostly due to bringing folks in who have "iffy" work records, who then don't stay on after receiving some expensive training. Did you do any work at all during that period? Can you get someone to write a letter for you attesting to any independent work that you did - and got paid for?

I worked for a year and a half at burger king but had to quit because my car broke down and I had to take taxi's to work so I couldn't pay my bills. That was in louisiana so I moved back in with my dad. I've only been unemployed for about 2 months recently but they said in the past 3 years. After high school I did some private work for a neighbor under the table and he moved away so I cant get any form of letter of recomendation from him. I could try to get something from my old boss from BK in louisiana but I honestly don't trust his letters. Not that he would have anything negative, he isn't all that well educated and has a hard time writing. Bad grammer/spelling. Not exactly something you wanna give to someone trying to get a professional job imo. I'm sad now. I really wanted to work for prime...
