That is the deal. Right now is the beginning of the slow point in the freight cycle; Prime certainly has been actively recruiting all year, and probably has most of the drivers they need for the time being - they can be very picky at this point. That's what you guys are seeing, recruiting picking the top candidates without any background issues.
If you can't get on with Prime right now, find a company who will hire you, and start getting some experience. Do your absolute best to keep your record clean, and think about reapplying sometime down the line if you still want to come over.
Best of luck fellas...

Detroit23, who hired you? I applied at SWIFT but I cant stand by the house phone all day (I don't have a cell phone atm)... I tried to call them to try to talk to a recruiter and it told me to apply online and wait for a recruiter to call me...

when did u start? did you go through their training?

Been with Prime for 4 years now. I got my CDL through an outside school, and did my training with Prime afterwords. The instruction/training program is quite comprehensive, and is very good in my opinion. Tuition is 100% forgiven if you stay employed with Prime for one year after being lead-seat solo qualified.

Yup... new CDL holders (whether we train them or not) go out with a trainer for 60,000 miles - about 12 weeks or so depending on the pace of operations. After that you can elect to go solo for the last 20,000 or stay with your trainer. Its pretty comprehensive compared with some of the outfits that just throw you in the deep end.

The total training period is 80,000 miles...
