Starting Off Young-Not In A Good Way

Now that he knows he can start and operate that forklift, what's next? D-8? Big scraper maybe?
We haven't heard the last of that kid.

 

Say what you want to, but kids today do not face discipline, they face counseling. My 'counseling" was at an end of a belt or a razor strap. Daddy showed no mercy, but he taught me lifetime lessons. Talk is cheap when it isn't backed up by actions. I am afraid that this kid is heading down the "lost highway" because his parents were too busy with other activities to be concerned with him.

 

Something about a good old-fashioned spanking is still more effective at getting a point across than any counseling ever will be. it’s just these nitwits that lose their temper and end up beating the child to a bloody pulp that may gave it such a negative light. There is a difference between corporal punishment, and beating. It’s just that some people do not want to admit it

 

Well, I'll tell ya', my old man scared the bejezuz out of us, threatening to whallop us, but never did. Still, I pushed it, but never got arrested and the old mans threats actually helped me to make better decisions. While the punishment of the day, we learned, those actions had long lasting problems down the line, and we're dealing with it now. I never hit my kids, took away something neat, but a "whuppin" only hurts for a short time, and in the long run, didn't do much good anyway, except satisfy the one doing the whuppin'.

 

Eh, not really. Either the kid is to young to grasp why they're being hit, or old enough other methods are more effective. I do agree there's a big difference between an occasional spanking and beating them, but stuff like this there's more than likely a complete lack of discipline or consequences
