I-80Trucker: Glad to provide info. I hope to provide enough info for others to make an informed decision. I get a good feeling so far. Glad to help my fellow drivers (new & experienced as well). Take care of yourself and best of luck to you.
I-80Trucker Thanks this. -
Your telling me oreientation is 3 days long for a guy just out of cdl school?
-
Orientation is 3 days. Coming out of school, they would send you with a trainer for a period of time before sending you solo. Not sure how long you would be w/ a trainer. Most companies have orientation, which is basically them going over their policies & procedures, drug test, & in some cases a physical.
-
Ok yeah I know I'm at TMC now you said something about assigning you a truck or truck number I thought you meant like here's the keys take off after 3 days lol.
-
hope you will like it here at Henderson.
I have a couple of things to add. I know their score is sucky right now. Which is unfortunate, because we all are expected to run legal. This score reflects lots of no seat belt and speeding tickets. Safety can complain all the want, if you get a ticket for not wearing a seat belt, it reflects bad on the company. They are trying super hard to change this, as far as I know some tickets will now get you fired. So it is up to us, the driver to help improve this with good inspections, etc.
Their equipment is good, plain Jane, but in good working condition.
You got to stay with your trainer for 12 weeks (I hope I got that right) before you go on your own.
If you get a truck with a Thermoking APU, they already have power inverters, the ones with Carrier APU don't.
Good luck in your new adventure and I hope you will like it. I have been here for 4 years, and while there are always some issues, they obviously have not been too bad, since I am still here. -
Roadhog84, experienced drivers will get trks right away, (I think). Students will be placed w/ a trainer. Sorry about the confusion. Sabine in MO thank you for your input. So far I like the company. I agree that no company is perfect, but I think I will like it here. Stay safe everyone. Will update more later.

Day two of orientation done. Today consisted of several PowerPoint presentations. We had a mechanic go over the reefers, APU's, and maintenance followed by payroll, an overview of some policies & procedures, they are forced dispatch for company drivers, they pay PC Miller shortest route miles, they're starting to get into hauling hazmat so we had a presentation on that as well today. They've said this is one of the largest classes they've had for a while. As far as I know we'll finish orientation tomorrow and I will be dispatched Thursday.
I-80Trucker Thanks this. -
What type of tranny do they have in trucks..? No pay for orientation? That sucks
-
Here's my philosophy on paid orientation ... If they've trick u in with a 5,000 sign on bonus and 1,200 orientation pay .. It's for a reason they can't keep no one
No pay for orientation to me sometimes means better place to work
