That is great information. I will end up probably getting a big maglight, with plenty of bulbs. Not to mention a mini one to go on my belt. prob. never need it, but it would sure beat running back to the truck to get it.

As far as getting a CB, i am sure the truck assigned to me will have one already in it, but if not, what is a good quality fairly inexpensive radio? From the threads i've seen, it sounds like i should have it on, low squelch, on the interstate in case of backed up traffic. But once i got on surface streets, anything from the CB would just be a distraction. Not to mention, as one guy said, makes it a little easier to listen for emergency vehicles in town.

I will have to start my own blog/thread when my schooling gets closer. As much as I want to start a class, I dont want to jump into one for the sake of saving a week or two. MCT is my best bet right now. Swift just sounds like it could turn into too much of a headache overnight. Over driving a route, not getting paid for actual mileage, cooking log books, etc. I just want to be SAFE, LEGAL and do it right. Heck, i should put that in my signature line.

You'll use that Mini-Mag more often than you think.
They're handy for checking your fifth wheel connection
    day OR night.

But again, there are TWO types of bulbs for the Mini-Mag, and one is MUCH brighter. Radio Shack sells both.
The brighter bulb is twice the price, but they're worth it, IMO. :yes2557:

I used to carry mag-lights, until I discovered Streamlight. They're pricey, but the light they put out is far superior to Mags. I have a Scorpion and Ultra Stinger. Well worth every penny I spent for both lights.

I just have one question --- if your Scorpion or Ultra Stinger fails --- who fixes them?
And are they made in America?

As I've mentioned, Mag-Light will repair or replace defective parts, or repair non-warranty problems on a walk-in basis at their Ontario, California facility. Or you can send them in. That's pretty handy IMO --- and one reason why I recommend that particular brand. Performance is another reason.

But it all boils down to personal choice.
Thanx for your input, Biker. :salute:

    OH!
    I just remembered -----
Don't forget to have a roll of DUCT TAPE!
Every trucker can find a use for duct tape. :yes2557:

I carried my Scorpion on my duty belt when working patrol in Toronto. It took a lot of abuse and still worked when needed. I'd rank the Streamlights right up with the mag-lights.

I have a small metal led flashlight. Its about 6 inches long, fits in my pocket and is brighter than any Mag light I have used. Runs on 3 AAA batteries and has about 9 bulbs in the end. It puts out as much light as a 9 volt lantern. I have one of those in the side box as well.

I just happened to have it in my pocket a few weeks ago when a engineer at a Gillette plant I was loading at was checking a trailer. When he gave it back to me he said we are going to buy a few of these

I got one of the wicked little 2 lithium cell'd streamlights from a little air force girl while I was still in the Marines. They are definitely one beast of a light.

Can it then be said that crackheads and bums will
    see the (Mag) Light?
Or just feel it briefly before the lights go out? :biggrin_2559:

We must all seek enlightenment lest we burn out. We must grasp the filament and plant the bulb of understanding.

Besides, smacking somebody with a Mag light is definitely a case of assault and ... Battery
