I do have a criminal past but have not been in trouble in over 10 yrs.If you have any suggestions of companies that are willing to hire me I'd really appreciate it...I have 3 children and a wife to support a mortgage to pay and a whole lot of bills.Thank You

I am 59 and going back to get my CDL A and then OTR so no he is not to old.
As long as you can deal with him being on the road for 4 to 5 weeks on end.

that is the major thing to consider.

Stevens is a good company to start with from what I have read

I'm in a similar predicament compared to most of y'all...I've had my CLD A since March of 2004, at which time I had a 1st offense DUI one year prior. Couldn't get a company to look at me if I staples $100 bills to my forhead and told them to grab away! Well, my job search was cut brief about a month later, by a dipsh*t trucker driving for L******d-S***o (I censured the name of the company, even though they were cheap ########). He was changing the station on his radio (hey...music's important, right?) while making a lane change, and didn't see me in my wife's Dodge Neon...long story short, me and the Neon definitely got the worse end of the stick in that one! So, here I am 7 years later, and I'm trying to get back into the workforce after 7 years of struggling and not making my bills on SSI Disability. Doesn't matter that I had 30+ years of straight work under my belt before this ##### happened, or that my driving record has been impeccable since my 2003 screwup (as it was for 22 years prior to it)...not one company will give me the time of day, and the only reason is because I don't have verifiable jobs going back at least six months to a year. They were all actually cool with the DUI being 7 years in my past, but as soon as they heard I was out due to an injury and that I collected SSI (worst mistake I ever made, and at the reccomendation of a lawyer at that) they couldn't get off the phone fast enough! This whole practice smacks of massive discrimination, mainly against the unemployed! Why in God's name are these companies shooting themselves in the foot, cutting out such a huge workforce pool by insisting they need to have worked in the last 6 months...especially since there's a serious lack of qualified drivers out there? It's absolutely unfair, I am completely fit to pilot an 18 wheeler, have been verifyably sober for 8 years and 4 months now (I quit drinking the day after I got pulled over), and at 47 I have at least 20 good years left in me! I'm quickly reaching the end of my rope here...anyone have any suggestions for a frustrated job seeker in a strange situation?

Looking for some work or any quick entry in the oil fields in Texas. I have a truck to lease on. Any company you can mention will be a point in the right direction.

Hey I will say that they are ALL scary...every inch of them. BUT I have seen a few that "truly" were zombie looking. I understand the NEEDS part, but any guy thinking he is just getting some when he invites one of these ladies into his truck he is an idiot.

Appreciate this thread. Helping me to research companies and not pinning my hopes on just one. More I put out there, better chance I got of one biting.

I am a new driver looking for work in the Bakken. I live in eastern MT but willing to work anywhere in ND as well. Class A tank/dbl/trpl and able to get Hazmat. I have experience as a Frac Heater as well. Anyone willing to hire a new driver at all?
