Anyone know of these types of jobs in the DFW area ( I am south in a rural area)? I am also a year out of school with still no job in trucking ( I took a job somewhere else for half this time. I had to have some income and endlessly looking for a job wasn't paying my bills.). I am willing to do what I have to, but as I have a 9 month daughter and 2 step children, I would rather not take a job that keeps me out weeks at a time. Going out for days at a time, while it wouldn't be my dream, I would gladly do right now, just to get some exp. under my belt.

I'm training with Stevens in Dallas Monday...can I ask which school you went to? -
After I got my CDL w/ full endorsements I tried for local jobs for the experience and was told time and again no exp no job. So like many I ve had to go with the questionable companies to get my 6 mo to a year to have the good companies look at me. Best of luck to all.

I got my license over 2 yrs ago and got hired right out of school with a LTL freight co. Awsome experience if you could find a company that's not going under. You will need
Hazmat and doubles-triples endorsments.
You will get alot of good experience hauling 53, 48, 29ft and sets around town plus your home every night! -
Where you at in nor cal? If your in the bay area, try Area Truck Driving school in Santa Clara. Worth the money. Or try freight companies, many will put you to work on the dock and have there own schools.

most retail chains contract out to other carriers. Such as Unified grocers (UG) or safeway/vons/pack n save has their own trucks. both want 2-3 years of real OTR but provide around $70,000 a year and 2-3 nights a week at home. At least from what Ive learned in talking to drivers and reading posts

i had the same problem as you...impossible to find a job with no expr, no matter how good is your record and how many endorsements you have on your license.
one thing you can do...to find connections, someone who will reference you to the company. i got luck to be helped by some friend of mine.
