I start school the 8th of June and will be OTR. I'm actually looking forward to it. I had a CDL "B" in Ohio but when I moved out to Utah, they took it away when I got my new licsence. The time away from my wife and daughter will be hard but the way I was working, I barely got to see them anyways.
Good for you driver, i hope things work out good for you. I know time away will be hard for you, but a love for the road will keep you going.
just a fast ????? just got out of school 2weeks ago, now I drove truck in the early 90s for about 4yrs got out of it but now trying to work my way back into it. Ok all bs aside we know newbies have to start somewhere and read alot of the talk on these post, got pre hire from, Swift- TMC-Trans-Am- USA and Warner, give me some hits on what one would be (BEST) to start with. Thanks for you time
Hi all, I am new here. I know this may have been asked before however, I just got my cdl and the only company so far that will hire me is CR England. They still want me to go through thier two week course at $ 1500 even though I just completed a 304 hour course already. They say I will have a job with them but after reading all the bad posts on here about them I am not so sure. There just are not any companies that I have spoken to yet that will hire without atleast 6 month exp. Any advice?, thanks
Your right it has... http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/cr-england/85043-cr-england-newbie.html http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...any-here/55646-cr-england-the-real-story.html http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr.../38995-i-should-have-listened-cr-england.html There is just a few. Plenty more..........
First post for me on here..I start CDL school in august...will not be under contract to work for anyone since this is paid for thru Michigan Works Act...I am divorced and have no family or ties...I was wondering if there was any advice on bus ....the tour bus interests me and hopefully someone has been there n done that!!
I too will be a rookie soon. My question is as it seems that "some" trucking companies are using new drivers to move loads on the cheap is that really true? I mean it's one thing to pay low and see who sticks it out and another to "use" drivers and then let them go for bull*** reasons. I know I'll have to start out on the low end of the scale but can I really make a "normal" living after a probationary period or being a rookie get stuck with minimum wage loads. I see more negative post than I do positive ones. Any help would be appreciated.
So what I'm seeing is a plethora of "doom and gloom" for new drivers. I have solid emplyment right now, paying all bills, stacking some away for savings. Unfortunately, it's about as boring as watching paint dry. I logged over 250k miles in a straight truck back several years ago. Drove for nationwide marketing tours. Nothing like seeing the country through a windshield. I miss the road about as much as I learned to hate it. Those hours where yawning takes precedence, you're fighting your own mind to stay alert, and you're cussing the #### dispatchers for booking you a 12-hour drive that accounts for no fuel stops, scales, etc... Whew! Gotta get back on the road. No possibilities of clearing $100k? Anything close to $80k?
