very well put. I like that attitude and thanks for reminding me because that's the attitude I work at having on a daily basis. Sometimes I find myself slipping down the slippery slope to negativity, self-pity, condemnation and hostility and I just need to be reminded of what's good and right in this life. Again, thanks!

Got the house painted this week. Planning on doing the shed this up coming week. I should have a bit more time as I just quit/got fired from Dennys.
I had today (My birthday) off and I had planned on going camping with my fam. I got a call at 5am telling me I had to be there before 6am as they changed my shift because some one was sick. I told them no I had plans, and I live over 45min away so there was no way I could get there in under 1 hr. They said come in or loose your job. I said send me my check and went back to bed.
I will be leaving on saterday to start school with Central refergration services in salt lake city. I will be nice to have more time with the family.Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
Well enjoy your family cause if you make it through school and Pre-empoyment stuff your life is about to change. Trucking is deffiently a Life Style not just a job/career. how much did Central say it would be to go to there school? They used to be Dick simmon trucking til it went bankrupt.
thumbsout Thanks this. -
I have been putting in application after application and have been told to go back to a school, then give them a call. That was until last Thursday. A tanker company with a terminal in Houston said they would be glad to have me. I currently work for the state and gave my 2 weeks notice on Friday. The state was very understanding and said if it doesn't work out to come back. The tanker company said they turn down enough work every week to start a new company. They SAY I'll make an average of $1,100 a week. I'll be gone 3 weeks at a time, then off for 3 days. If I make $800 or $900 a week, that will still be almost double my pay now. I have 3 days of orientation then 3 weeks of training with a tanker on local runs. Then as some of you put it "A lifestyle change" will happen. I've never been OTR. How much food do I need to bring "in case" I am in a rural area? How much clothes? Will I have time to wash clothes at a truck stop? I will be hauling HazMat most of the time. I'll ask the trainer these questions in a couple of weeks.

Hey, just curious... where did you get the handle: PSUMoose? You a Penn Stater? Is it possible you attended when I did (Mid 80's, then back in early 90's for grad school). You may have seen me passed out face down in Calder Alley outside of the Shandy-Gaff Saloon if you did. If you saw me laying there, then you've "met" me before. Yeah... I was THAT guy. The back of my head is easy to recognize, especially in a puddle of beer-puke.
