I admit;had to google Gene Tracy. My only excuse is "Trucking" did not enter my mind until 2 decades later and did not become a daily/nightly theme of my nightmares for 6 years after that.![]()

Contrary to some opinion my "story" is not a lie. How I a.d several other drivers would haul poles of that length on a 48' flat bed was to drop the trailer, pull the tractor, 20-30' forward. Then put A pole bunk with a king pin plate on the bottom of it, into the 5th wheel. Then set up another set of pole bunks on the back of the trailer. Then load the poles into the two bunks. Then chain and strap the the front of the trailer to the bottom of of the poles and then wind up the landing dollies. Then chain and strap the poles into the bunk inthe 5th wheel.
If you don't believe me call .JH.Baxter in Eugene, Oregon and ask them hoe to "float" a load of poles.Last edited: Dec 27, 2012

I did not say it was a lie but I'm curious as to how you did it. It sounded like you loaded the poles on a 48 ft and off you went.

1999 I think I got .23 per mile to start and .12 when empty. In a month changed to .25 for all miles.

No, YOU didn't say I was lying but the individual a few posts down from your question did. I guess I was hoping someone would ask how it was done.
