Why did you choose to lease vs. staying company? Just curious as to your thought process on that. Is it because you had prior experience, or...?

Keep us updated with how the lease goes for you, old man!

why and im serious would you lease a truck. With fuel cost rising and primes high payments not to count maintaince and other factors do you think this is a good move honestly. Think seriously hard and long on this decision.. if you want to take some time off the payment does not stop and you will go in the hole so keep that in mind. Im an O/O and have been for many moons..i have heard nitemare stories about not just primes lease but others.. save your money and buy your own truck.

Pretty much because of the choices available. The lease will be a short one, no longer then a year. I will be living in the truck for all intents and purposes(my choice-no family). The goal IS to buy my own truck and if I find the deal here at Prime OK, lease it with them, if not, I'll go back to Landstar and lease it on with them. My decision was based on prior o/o experience and I believe with what I've seen, I can make enough money in a year on lease to go OWNER/op. I'll keep ya'll posted with revenue figures, costs etc. etc.

All that said, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone just getting started...does that make sense? :biggrin_25512:

See my response above. This is just a means to another end which is getting my own truck AGAIN...lol! I believe I can do just that and still maintain at least the illusion of being an "owner" until then. I had 15 very profitable years as an owner/op with NAVL and then Ranger/Landstar. I got out of the business for awhile and when I decided to get back in, Prime's was the cheapest and easiest path I found. A year from now I WILL BE DRIVING MY OWN TRUCK! Unless Prime shows me something spectacular, I will more then likely go back to Landstar!

Been a LONG few days! Came down with a stomach virus Sunday and it's been a rough couple of days..lol! I still have to do my sim test AND the Smith class. Seems to me that our upgrade class for lease is HUGE. May be 40 people? Should start picking out trucks today.
