It is unusual, but not all that uncommon. I've known at least two couples who did that. And I've known more couples who both have hyphenated names...hers-his and his-hers. It's been changing for a long time.

One of our instructors said yesterday that there were 48 in our class. That # is probably down as of this morning. From what I have read, that seems like a pretty light class as of lately.

35...that's a particularly large number. Most of which (medical/documentation) could have been dealt with before showing up in Sprinfield.

Well, tbh, at least some of those guys were hoping "to squeak by the system." I'd guess that some of those folks sent home for medical were blood pressure related, and can come back once it is under control. Others may have dropped some sugar in their urine, again, go get it under control, they can probably come back (unless it is determined that they need insulin). Some were probably not truthful w/ their recruiters on MVRs/criminal records.

That being said, times are hard, unemployment sucks, and the cost of living just keeps going up.

I totally understand the economy issues, etc. My roomie is one of the BP guys, but he is gonna go home and get it handled and come back in a month. The paperwork stuff should have been a no brainer, but there was one guy from NJ with what I thought was a valid Birth Cert. I was born and raised in NJ and I remember what it looked like. Had a raised seal etc. But they rejected it because it wasn't on the "new" post 9/11 form or something to that effect. My BC which is from NJ is on the new form, because I had to get a copy of it before coming out because my original one was lost. He will be ok, his mom is getting it and then gonna have it FEDEXED in for tomorrow.

Classes have been split today between permit/non-permit holders so I haven't seen the whole class together since yesterday morning before the process began. I'll do a rough head count at our Haz-mat class at 7:00 am and see what number I come up with.

I knew things were going too smooth for me...lol! I found out this afternoon that my Maine CDL-A permit may not be "valid" for interstate travel. Steve(the training manager) is going to talk to the MO State Patrol Troop Commander and get an "official" ruling. It isn't a show stopper. I'll either transfer it to MO or retake the permit test. I'm relocating to SprgMo anyway so I am gonna wind up with a MO CDL anyway. If I have to pay the fee again?....heck, that's trucking.

Hey DTB...your better half is still with the trainer from Maine isn't he? Could you see if he would ask his trainer if he came down from Maine with a Maine permit and if so how did they handle it? I'd appreciate it!

Oh one last thing... I took my roomie up to get his bus ticket and when we got back to the Campus Inn a p/u that was on the way to deliver 3 new appliances somewhere, pulled in behind us and the cartons were fully on fire! I ran in and grabbed a fire extinguisher and another instructor and I ran out and put the fire out. They were a total loss, but at least we saved the p/u. Somebody called maintenance and they rolled up in the golf cart after the fire was out with a half full bucket of water...rolf..:biggrin_25523:

Sorry for the loooong post :biggrin_2552:
