Call Pete and find out where the switch on the firewall is I forget what it is called.. On mine which is older than yours. it is right under the footvalve.. (the valve with all the colored plastic air lines on it) When you find this switch make a jumper wire..and bypass the switch with the key on and out of gear.. if it starts that is where your problem is... If not you have a bad ground ... Good luck

I just went thru this on a 03 379. Behind the battery box up near the frame rail there should be a junction block. It's a ##### to find but the hot wire nut on mine backed off just enough to cause the same problems. I did the starter then batteries, the whole deal. nothing worked. till I found the little box by accident. I thought it was a relay/solenoid but I don't think it is.

the wire harness that leads from the starter solinoid top of firewall is zip tied/ clamped to the a/c line down the firewall 6" above the steering coloumn you will find a connector, some are 2 wire some are 4 wire you will find the pins in the connector have melted. the connector will not want to come apart because it has melted cut this out and splice the wires back together

Needs a new switch. My opinion. My 2000 was the same way I'd have to wiggle the switch or hit it several times then shed hit just fine.

Sometimes my 98 379 would crank and sometimes not at all. It was a bad ground on starter relay. The relay on my truck was located on firewall on left side, under the hood (engine compartment that is). I added an extra ground to the frame. Fixed it.
