Yep, I begin school on May 1. Going to TTC Nashville. Roehl is on my list of companies I am looking at to work for. Will put applications in with several and see what happens. First, though, main concentration is to get through school. Send in apps during school.
Jeff, keep us posted on your progress! Be safe!!!

Foomangoo, I'm taking the physical at St Mary's in Evansville, IN. Yes they pay the full cost. I may stop at the License Branch in E'ville on the way home from the physical. If I'm not mistaken, they've moved their branch to an office building right off Hwy 41. I think its in the Sundance Plaza (with the big marquee). If I don't stop there, I'll stop at the Vincennes branch. As far as your question of instructions for those with health issues...that would be one to field with Carrie at Roehl Transport or perhaps Sarita Hines at Allied Medical Services.
(send me a PM with an e-mail address and I'll give you contact information for the two of them)

Congratulations on your school date marinedriver. It is quite wise to focus on the CDL-A fully. Now are you going to them for all testing, or just road testing and training? Good idea waiting on the apps, I might suggest to have your list narrowed to at least 3 companies, and mail apps (or complete them online) to them prior to your final week of training.
Good luck with your training as well. -
I had to get my permit, DOT physical and MVR before I could be put on the list for school. I will be able to do the drive test, pre-trip test and get my CDL A through the school. School is 7 wks long.
Thanks for the advise about sending in the apps. Doesn't make much sense to apply to early. I am interested in Conway/CFI, KLLM, Roehl, Trans Am and Transport America. This forum has really helped me with making my company list. There have been some posters who have written about their experiences of going through school and then on to their company and that has helped tremendously. Great forum. -
I do realize you can not take everyone's word on a company, no two drivers will have the exact same experiences. Personal attitudes are what build the base of all perceptions. Yes this is a far better forum than Rip-Off Report (most comments on that one are all negative based and rarely substantiated). I too wish to thank both the creator(s) and moderators of this forum, as well as Evolution for creating this thread in particular. It has made the task of sifting and examining a lot easier. -
Well I didn't create it, but you're welcome anyway! I finally got out on my own and I am loving it. The only really bad thing that has happened to me is I got dropped off at Gary at 0300 the other day with no place to sleep and nothing to eat. I had to wait for people to start coming to work before I could get to my hotel. But I've been in worse situations. The Honor Program still seems like a good idea to me and I have been getting what I am owed on time so far. I don't expect it to change. If this is where you decide to come, I hope you have a great experience too. Everybody (save a few of the mechanics in Ellenwood) has been great. Good luck and if there are any question about training and the EVO's, fire away.

A road and backing test. Drug test. You'll get "THE ROEHL WAY" brief. Then go over our paperwork and whatnot, plus do all your employment paperwork. Where are you taking orientation? Ellenwood, I would guess? Are you going van?

I just googled rip-off and there are a bunch of websites wanting rip-off taken off the net. Hmmm!

Bubba one good luck with roehl.I still think they are a good company but I dont care for the way I was treated. I kinda think its partly due to the fact im female. Many of the male drivers I have talked to seem to like it there but the gals have different stories.
I had orientation in ellenwood and it only lasted 2 days, first day driving tests and physicals/drug tests, somewhere in the middle youll watch two movies and the 2nd day paperwork the usual tax papers and application signature.
The lunch they provide is very good and the dinner isnt so bad.you wont go hungray..have fun with them and keep us informed on your training.
