It goes something like "honor thy fuel".
Really, they use some of your guv'ment funds and put you on salary. Most guys on the honors program I've talked to are one of two extremes:
-Getting the very long hauls the people on mileage pay would kill for
-Going back and forth between a shipper 10 miles away, strapping, tarping, then relaying the load. -
RTDC Start Date - 5 MAY 2008
Release Date from Current Employer - 2 MAY 2008 (Woo Hoo!!!)
CDL-A Permit Written Test - 15 APR 2008 (tomorrow after work)
DOT Physical - 14 APR 2008 [Successfully Complete]
Well folks, I've cleared another hurdle. I will take the written CDL-A exams tomorrow. I'm just going to knock out the extra endorsements as well. I'm really enjoying watching the calendar countdown to my escape from factory life. Two weeks to go, man that sounds nice. Well I guess I'll get back to studying for the exams. I'll keep you posted, and thanks for the good luck wishes. -
Hey Jeff, good luck, looks like you have all well in hand.
hey, have you heard anything about getting your cdl in another state and then transfering it back to IN and retake some of the tests? curious....
rock on!:smt035 -
You'll have to get your CDL in Wisconsin ($75!) using the apartments as your residential address. Then, transfer it to your home state (whatever those costs are) once you finish training. Roehl will not let you start Evo's without faxing a copy of your home state license once it's transfered.
-
Oh, and if you have a motorcycle endorsement, MAKE SURE WISCONSIN PUTS IT ON YOUR CDL or you will have to retest in your home state!

UPDATE:
-
Well I've completed the written exams. I also passed the HAZMAT endorsement.
Now if only I could've found my Social Security Card. I looked in our (fireproof) safe and (fireproof) security box. Obviously I must have taken it out for some reason. All the girls' cards were in the safe. I guess I'll be making a trip to the SS Office Monday. I'll then have to wait till Tuesday (when the License Branch is open) to get my CDL-A Permit.
At least all the written testing is done. Now I can focus on packing for RDTC, performing maintenance on the pickup (not looking forward to filling that liquid sinkhole), and patiently awaiting my release from the factory.
Seems that everything is falling into place; not as fast as I would like, but we're getting there. -
It shouldn't take long to get your social security card. I had the same problem, and my new one showed up within a week. If not, Roehl will accept the receipt stating you applied for a replacement. Glad things are falling place for you. Keep us updated.
