By the way, it'd seem we're neighbors. I live just a bit southwest of Jackson in Jonesville. They don't seem to have any problem getting me home when I want to be there.

+1 on dispatchers. Mine have been great thus far too, but it doesn't hurt that I am pretty laid back and non-demanding when I ask something. I give them a general idea when I'd like to be home, and they usually get me there a day prior. I can talk to people while not being pushed around too, that helps. It was an learned skill and it serves me well. You gotta be firm while still being polite and friendly. It can be a fine line to balance, but oh so critical. I have to say, I was impressed that flatbed DSRs are required to take load securement training. It will make it that much easier when it comes time to talk shop over the phone about a load.

Just out of curiosity, have you noticed any real pay increase since you switched to flats from vans?
-
Haven't been over here a full pay cycle yet. I noticed my pay was kinda low this time around, but when I did the math and looked at my logs I didn't work the 11 days required for full pay. My own fault on that. Taxes are killing me. Its that 25% bracket. Thankfully I don't have state taxes to pay too.

Well I like that they get you home on time, trying to get my husband home on time is like pulling teeth. Ya i don't actually live in jackson i just used it as a land mark, I live on lake leann.

They tried to run me the wrong direction once, but as soon as I said something they canceled my pre-plan and got one headed to the sunshine state. I think most of the problems you run into here are just an oversight, not intentional.

Wow, I used to go down to Lake LeAnn when I was little and swim. My mom lived there when she was younger for a while, I know. I wish my grandma hadn't sold the land she had on the lake, it'd be nice to be able to go there. It's amazing how much the value of the houses on that lake have skyrocketed in the past 10 years. Too bad the hubby's not home enough to enjoy the lake.

I have lived on this lake my whole life. It's a wonderful place. My husband is more of a farm boy he don't miss the lake that much, but he does miss his mud truck. When he comes home thats all he want to do is go mud boggin.

No state taxes? That must be nice. The great state of Michigan was kind enough to allow me to contribute $37 this week, while the feds took 4 times that. The nice thing is, I'll get most of this back at the end of the year.
On one week, Uncle Sam managed to take a whole $524 out of my paycheck. I'll be sure not to mess up my paperwork in the future and have me jumping up another tax bracket.

I'll tell ya what. You guys take our house on the farm and we'll take yours on the lake. Sound good?
