I won't be starting until June. Hopefully most of the mud will have dried up by then!

The Old Dutch does have internet, but it's in one room that smells like smoke. I am lucky enough to have a wireless card in my laptop. The rooms at the Dutch are cozy enough, I suppose. They are a little retro though. The instructors have been great, and I really have no complaints about the training.

Good training??? ok simple question how many blind side back ins did you do? And now that you are trained are you confident that you can successfully do it?

You are trained to take the road test simple as that. Ohh btw seriously good luck with it, let the nerves go and you'll be fine.

roflmao Just started thinking about the rooms you are talking about. LOL wait till you go to take a shower in marshfield and some backed up driver decides to realease his bowels while you are soaping up.

Yes virginia the showers are in the mens room. remember only to use 1 towel

Did you train at RDTC? If not, did the training you attend prepare you 100% for driving? Is there really any training that is going to make you feel completely confident in all aspects of this job? You have all these opinions and great ideas, are you a OTR trainer? If not, perhaps you should look into it. Will you make a huge difference as a trainer? No, probably not. But with the wealth of information you are so seemingly eager to share, perhaps you can make a difference to your individual trainees. Do I feel I am prepared enough to hit the road under the supervision of trainer? Yeah, I do. Am I going to hit the gate knowing everything? Nope. Nothing is perfect. No training is going to perfect. There is not training that is going to completely prepare a person for every possible situation that could occur. They give us the basic skills to drive these trucks here, not to be perfect at it. Like I said before, it's only three weeks and it's very condensed. Coming out of the military, I am comfortable with shortened and condensed training. Yeah, they may focus on preparing us for the simple road test, but are they doing a good job at it? I feel confident enough to pass it; I'll let you know Thursday for sure. I completely understand what you mean about the hype, don't get me wrong, but I can imagine it could be a lot worse. Of the other companies you have worked for, how does this one compare? It can't be that bad, or I would assume you would have moved on by now.

As a trainer I can vouch for RDTC. The students I get from there are more prepared than a student I get from anywhere else. The only place that comes close is NETTS in CT. Of course it helps that they are trained in the same trucks in school that they will drive when they get to me. RDTC used to be a four week class. I'm curious what they cut out. I'm pretty sure logging is one of them.

Evolution I am going to not respond to your post till after you have road tested out. Trust me I know you are under stress. Maintain your positive attitude.

Bucks Seems to me they cut out qual-com, only graze over trip planning, No night time training, lately seems to only be basic driveing skills with the normal emphasis on safety and of course we all know they never read road signs :)

The date hasn't been set yet. I'm waiting for Carrie to give me a call and say that I checked out ok. I'm looking to start mid-June.

Are you going to be starting at Roehl in June?
