I dont need help with school related things, because I already graduated from my local college that has a truck driving program.

Yes, I know KFC is good in moderation, but it's so #### tastey!!

Well, I've been on the road over a week. And I'm not happy. Not with the job. I love it. Hell, a couple days ago I drove 685 miles... (keep in mind, supertruckers, I'm governed at 65)

What I'm not happy about is my fleet owner. AM&S. Firstly, the reason I chose MCT and AM&S is because they allow pets. For a deposit, and I'm fine with that. But now, I hear from the guy who is training me that he DOESN'T allow pets. Well, that was one of the top reasons I chose this company. Secondly, these trucks are ####. 10 year old, 1,000,000+ mile columbias. I wasn't expecting to get a Rolls Royce as my starter truck, but c'mon. These trucks are a dump. And let me tell you, there is NOT room in this thing for 2 people. Thirdly, when I first talked to the fleet owner, he said I was to be getting $350 flat/week for the training I was going to be getting. Now I check my account for my direct deposit, and I found $175 waiting for me. Hmmm, that isn't $350. APPARENTLY, I'm getting $.12/m for my training. Which is NOT what was explained to me.

So my criteria was 3 things, and he missed on all 3.
    A. Pet
    B. Decent truck
    C. Decent pay

    I should've went to Werner.
    They allow pets.
    Their trucks aren't trashed.
    But their pay is comperable.

But as Meatloaf once said, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

    0 out of 3 is.

I'll be making some phone calls on Monday to see what can be fixed.

but like I said. I love the job. It's fun. My first run was from Sioux Falls to Riverside, CA. My first time into California. Also my first time driving in Mountains. Quite nerve wracking the first time through!! But my confidence built and I was much more comfortable on the return. We had a load from Pomona to Omaha/Cedar Rapids/Minneapolis. My first drop to Omaha was a couple hours late, but it wasn't for lack of trying. I busted my ### to get there in time. I was low on hours the first day, so the next 2 days I drove 1220 miles. The reason I was low on hours is because the shipper took their sweet time getting us loaded. 1 1/2 hours on the last pallet alone. Anyway, we made our last 2 drops just fine. A couple pain in the ##### to back into, but we got them. Now, I just need figure out how to get some sleep in this truck. It's hard to fall asleep when your trainer is felling trees 2 feet below me. I've never heard snoring louder. I have to wake him up so he'll stop, but once he falls back asleep, BAM, it sounds like he's starting up an antique John Deere or something.

Anyway, once I get my own truck, I'll be much happier (and much better rested).

Pets during training? I don't think even Werner allows that. Don't forget, you are sharing that truck with another person that may not like animals in the vehicle with them.

You have a legitimate gripe about the pay though. Did you get that $350/week in writing?

I know that I wouldn't have been able to bring my pet during training. It's when I get my own truck that I want my pet.

No, I didn't get the 350/week in writing. He just went over the pay over the phone. And of course, he's since forgotten about our conversation.
