I am super excited about starting with prime next week. Is anyone else on here starting the same week? I am brand new to trucking and can't wait to start life on the road. I would like to do flatbedding.

I've been lurking, researching, and learning on here for a while and really appreciate the great info that you guys have shared. This has made my decisions much easier.

My main concern is getting a good trainer. I'm not looking forward to living in a truck with another person for a few months, but I will make the best out of it.

    pattyj Thanks this.

I actually start 2-27-12! Finished school here in Las Vegas at AIT and got my CDL with all endorsements. Heading off to SLC for orientation Sunday because they want to make sure I am there for Monday morning kick off. Not that bad of a bus ride as it is only about 8 hours. I will try to get back at you on here again. Best of luck to you!

    Good luck Greg.

I had a lot of the same concerns and questions. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
Read up on all the other experiences posted here so you'll know what to bring and what to expect.

If you have the dough, spring for having your own room. It's $25.00 a night, but dang, you never know who they might stick you with. It can be scary!!!

Thanks guys, I am sure I will have more questions, but so far they have all been answered in others' posts.

I was thinking about doing that. I asked my recruiter about the cost of a private room and she wasn't sure. 25 bucks a night is a small price to pay for a few last days without a roommate.

Flatheads trying to get you to work hard... Reefer is a good place as well, without all of the hard back breaking work... (ask ORD about his backache)

Reefer is boring. thats not real work, mostly sitting around. I prefer to be active. Flatbed allows me to do that.
