It's going well. Tomorrow is our road test. Not for the state but for Millis. It's the final step before orientation. I hope to get out with a trainer by November 30th - assuming all goes well tomorrow but I think it will. Today I drove around the Miller Brewery. That was interesting. Some tight corners around there. It's been a pretty good time. We have a good group of guys in our class. Lots of laughs which makes learning fun.

I passed my road test as did everyone left in the class. Next week is orientation. I'll be going out with my trainer on Sunday the 29th. He's regional so I should get a little extra home-time.

Did everyone that started the class with you finish or were some let go for one reason or another?

I applied about 3 weeks ago and haven't heard anything, I guess I will give them a call on Monday. I may not be in their hiring area even though we are neighbors .

    congratulations

Thanks wildbill. One guy was let go towards the end of week 2. He had no experience backing up any kind of trailer ever and was having problems with it. I would recommend to anyone wanting to do this without any backing experience to rent a U-haul trailer for a weekend and practice backing it up to get the basics down. Backing up a 53 foot trailer is certainly different but the basics are the same.

    Good luck to you.

Well that's it, they are not hiring out of Michigan at this time. Just like alot of other trucking companies I guess. I don't quite understand it though, we have over 10 million people living here 10Th most populated state. You can't tell me there is no freight moving in and out of here.

    So long, bill:biggrin_25511:

There is freight moving in, it's getting freight moving out that is hard.

Someone tell me what the difference is between miles for HHG ROUTE and PRACTICLE ROUTE? Noticed there was a 2 cent difference.

Practical route is based on highway miles and HHG is based on a straight line, or as the crow files so to speak.

    mceheel Thanks this.

Not really........................HHG miles are zip code to zip code shortest route possible. Practical is a route that will use interstate and US routes the most, more like the route a truck would take.

I drove for Millis for 3 years, I was there when they started the program. For 3 months ran my miles and pay on a spreadsheet and both pay the same.
