    You first...

Where does it state a restart is mandatory?

    Roadmedic,

Would you like to explain the regulation or your view of the regulation?

The problem that is being discussed is the comment you made here:

To 379exhd: if you drive 11 x 6 days + 4 1 day, you have met the 70 hours and are required to take the restart. You must stay below 70 hours. I recommend you drive a total of 69 or less in case of miscalculation on the totals.

The second post that quoted everything without separating it, clearly conflicts with this previous comment you made.

You told the driver it was REQUIRED to take a 34.

    Skunk_Truck_2590 Thanks this.

My understanding of the regulation is: if the carrier operates 24/7, drivers must take a 34 hour restart if they meet 70 hours on duty/driving in 8 days. If they do not meet 70 hours in 8 days they do not have to take a restart. Perhaps I should have said, to avoid the restart, stay below the 70 hours on duty driving.

That is not shown in the second posting.

A 34 hour restart may be taken, not required.

    Roadmedic,

Thank you for your responses. However, I disagree with you. The restart is required if drivers meet 70 hours on duty/driving in 8 days, or 60 hours on duty driving in 7 days. The way to avoid the restart and the confusion regarding the changes is to never meet the 70 hours in 8 days or the 60 hours in 7 days.

You all are flipping crazy on this board. How many HOS threads do we need? 30min rule every one of us already do it. 1-5am rule no big deal. All these hos threads you are making a big deal over nothing. Its not the end of the world. Just keep doing what you've been doing.

well if you meet the rules of the 34 restart, what would you put in the center box in the recap that asks you "hours available tomarrow" ?? do you put 70 or would you put what you drop fron your rolling 70 in 8 days.?
