After nearly losing my vision trying to figure this thread out, here is the conclusion I've come to:

Renegade1 is using the example of using all of one's 70 available hours in SEVEN days, not eight (as per his example directed at 379exhd). Let's go with this assumption. But let's also make this driver use his last four hours from, say, 7PM thru 11PM on day 7. True, he would not have hours on day 8, but seeing as it is less then 34 hours until "day 9", or such a day when he would regain hours from his recap, no restart is required. He could start up again on "day 9" with 11 hours after only having been off 25 hours. No reset.

And that is assuming that on day 1 that he used 11 hours.

i can work with the new hos its this stupid no stopping 14 hour day clock that i hate. the 14 hour rule is fine but not letting any off duty hours during the day stop the clock is ridiculous

Yes, true. I only based the 11-hour figure upon Renegade1's example. Main point was a full 34 hour "reset" was not required.

    Now my head hurts.:biggrin_25523:

The 14 hour thing is a pain, and makes some people waste paper.:biggrin_2559:

My OP was based on the fact that I was not understanding how the new HOS worked. But now I understand how it works although I did shamefully have to dig the info up from an ex employer. Not as bad as I thought it sounded. A waste of 3 1/2 hours a week on breaks but hell. The ###### part is that it counts towards the 14. Just wanted make sure I had a clear understanding on it before purchasing equipment, insurance, permits etc. Don't need a bad investment. Just a CYA for myself.

No not a puppet. My invester is family but it does come with stipulations. Elogs is the main one. I can't look a gift horse in the mouth over such. And its 3 company trucks and one lease truck that asked for. I'm only doing the one lease to help a good friend of mine out and elogs will not be required for his truck since it is a lease purchase. I've got way too much on my plate to take care of at the office other wise I would be getting a 5th truck for myself. With $400k on the line free and clear, I can't #####.
