That's a fun story! When I turn 52 I'm going to start telling everyone I am. If they ask what's my secret, I'll just tell them I eat a pinecone and bag of marshmallows every day for breakfast! Im five years away from being able to pull off that joke!

So what about Prime for school?

Good to know. So no matter where us GreenHornes go for training, we will at least get enough home time before hitting the road after training to get our CDL taken care of.

Prime is ok, but I like Jim Palmer Trucking. You can make .45 cpm in a full size truck with Jim Palmer. If you choose a full size truck at Prime, I think you lose .05 cpm. @purpleprime can probably verify this about Prime.

Full size truck? I didn't know there was a difference or choices for that matter. I would personally take the 5 cent dock and be ok with that. I would like to be able to bring my husband for ride alongs sometimes once I have some time under my belt. Even with the 5 cent dock, it's more than some training companies are starting a new driver at. I might have to consider that. Looks like i have more homework to do now.

Lots of difference in full size truck and ECO lightweight truck. No storage room inside lightweight truck. Prime will remove the passenger seat if you request it, so you have room for refrigerator or cooler and other stuff. Check Jim Palmer Trucking website; lots of pictures of the trucks you'll be driving. Roehl is still a good option; not sure about the inside layout of their trucks, but probably ok.

Some guy in Hattiesburg just started, but don't remember his screen name. There a few threads on here which you can access by putting "KLLM" in the search box at top right side of this page. He said he's doing lots of west coast runs with his trainer.

I just did some more research. Roehl only offers $10,000 accidental death insurance. Prime offers $30,000. Guess which way I'm leaning now. How do I change the title of my thread here? (LOL)

Rose, Mssouthern belle, your dot physical BP must be 140/90 or less. I have it too but am on Lisinopril to control it. You will only get a one year medical card and have it to get it renewed every year instead of every two years. I am overweight, am 55 but look 40'ish when I dye my hair, never smoked, never did illegal drugs, rarely drink but I digress. They will do an eye exam, have you read the smallest line you can from an eyechart over 25 feet away. 20/40 in each eye to pass, otherwise you will have to have to wear glasses and will be restricted to drive with glasses on your CDL. I remember failing my first dot physical because I had a cold and was taking cough medicine which amped my bp up and it slightly blurred my vision too. So I drank water exclusively, took my lisinopril religiously and quit the cough medicine and ate a lot of salads too. Passed it two weeks later. I didn't have to lift weights or anything like that. Just get that BP to 140/90.
