Also Rose, those companies may prefer 1 year experience, BUT, if they need drivers, 4-6 months may suffice. I had 8 weeks when I went to Abilene (and it showed) but they took me anyway. Don't believe the website. Put in an app. Just something to keep in mind. Turnover is rampant in this industry. Most can't handle the lifestyle, and some can't handle the wait times at shippers and receivers, many can't handle the no doping and drinking. And some, like me, are clumsy.

Millis Transfer is a great school with minimal out of your pocket. Once by yourself you can get weekends at home.

Hey T-cubed isn't there a lot of unloading/loading furniture with Millis though?

Not that I am aware of there is an updated thread with several current drivers.

@Chinatown has talked favorably about Abilene and Freymiller. I don't think they actually require 1 year experience.

This made me chuckle.... I'm slightly sour, jaded, I suppose, at the moment.
My own disposition and curve aside, whatever path you choose - and there are resources galore here, make the best of it.
We don't wanna see you in the 'Report A Bad Trucking Company' forum in two months pointing the finger at the same old story, when... Ya know, there's probably as equal a chance that they messed up as you did... industry vs. accountability.

That said, where ever you may land: kick some ### at it. Good luck to you.

    It ain't easy being green.

Thanks KillingTime! I've never had a problem admitting when I mess up. Accountability, Integrity, Honor. Those are all big words in my book.
I'm going to do my best, work my hardest, pay close attention to safety and run hard.

Have you looked at Central Refrigerated? Or prime Inc? Prime has a training program.

If you get dragged into safety, do their silly 'fix-me-ups'... I've visited a few more times than I care, for what seem to me: inane trainings, unrelated to my error. They just want to ensure they've engaged the 'corrective action' to erase their culpability in case you steamroll a family of 12 stuffed in a Dodge Caravan.
People are inherently stupid. Do stupid things, despite the examples set before them.
CYA is the name of the game. They play it well. So should you. @Chinatown has a story about uprooting a fire hydrant that's a good example...
Know when to say 'Yes, sir' ('ma'am') and know when to say nothing... I'm chuckling as I finish this... and a week ago, only I know why. Nothing major, I promise, but not something I'm doing a simulator test for.

    RoseWild and gntorres61 Thank this.

I would say prime or millis is best if looking for cdl training plus primes guarantee pay for the slow weeks. Personally know two people there one been there three years and refuses to leave the other a little over a year and is content and the one for a little over a year made 61k his first year.
