Its pretty much split up at this point, ive been getting miles but being flatbed our loads aren't going that far, I can only speak for my experience but i drove about 300 the other day and 100-200 every other day. I saw your other post about your trip details, what terminal do they want to send you to? As far as transportation goes i thought they would be covering the trip out just not the trip back if your going by bus.

They want to send me to Appleton on the 31st or Georgia on the 7th of November. It all depends on what's available.

And I won't get refrigerated right off like I wanted. They only have dry van available right now. I will get National though.

I'm not sure I follow, Trooper to Trucker. I'm taking everything everyone is saying into consideration, regardless of experience level, while doing my own research at the same time. Every opinion is valuable and weighed for whatever that value is worth. As a result I draw my own conclusions about where I want to apply.

I am grateful to everyone who has responded.

I'm not sure how my profile picture plays into this. I believed coming in here that this was a forum to find advice on various trucking companies and topics. If people can only ask or answer questions based on experience or how their profile picture appears, then I misunderstand the premise of this board. Educate me.

Yours is the first comment I've seen on this thread that is offputting to me. Meaning no disrespect. I've read your helpful advice to others in this forum. I fail to relate to your comment as helpful or providing advice on the topic I posed in request to answers to my endeavor.

I read what you wrote several times. I am at a loss, still, as to how your comment is productive in respect to me seeking answers from anyone who wishes to help.

[Edit] The "seen to be attractive female" part of your comment tells me you judge my ability to learn this trade based on how you perceive me to look. That's sexist and chauvinistic and does not mold to the character your profile portrays of you being evangelical.

I read the comment posted and IMHO find it arrogant. Unless I am missing the intent, it appears to imply that people getting ready to start this profession are 'not worthy of commenting'. While I only have limited experience driving a commercial vehicle (1990-1991 working for a drywall supply company) I do have 20 years working in max prisons. Those 20 years have taught a lot of lessons in life. Arrogance and condescension are things I left on the curb a long time ago. They tend to get heavy carrying around and inevitably bite you where the sun doesn't shine. The world is full of people who are full of themselves, I truly wish them the best of luck, I've found they'll often need it.

As training companies go, Roehl is a good choice. A lot of the better companies won't take you until you have some time on the road, under your wheels. A lot of us start trucking later in life, for the same reason you did; it's one of the few professions that does not discriminate against people for having a few miles of wear on them.

I think that we may be misleading you with our kindness, however. You really should be prepared for the first year or two to be an exercise in learning to deal with being treated as a cheap commodity by people who have no concept what the challenges are, that you will face, on the road, and who could not do your job if they wanted to, which they don't. Turnover is high in trucking for good reasons, and not everyone is as nice as we are... :p

Be prepared. Know when to stand your ground, and when to bend. There is a time for both, and you will likely have to stand ground against people who think that they are your boss, more often than it sounds as though you are used to.

Nah nothing personal there is the ultimate job finder here and his name is Chinatown. We just don't know each other outside of here. I am the same age and if that is your picture you are an attractive lady. Sometimes just don't read too far into my posts lol
