your research will show that you shouldnt drive or will not be allowed to drive on a script drug such as this.
Dont go overboard on stuff to carry starting out. not much more than whats listed . Laptop will help for sure during training. I was in Indy for my orientation and there was some doubling up on their very old and slow computer equipment. Dedicated is more reliable miles , hometime etc, and MUCH easier to get you back when you need to be for drill. Soemthing to consider. otherwise regional would be the way to go. home location being where it is makes it simpler on load planners to route you that way.

Thank you mickeyrat-I didn't even know what Xanax was-it sounds like rough stuff. We have a JC Penney dedicated account at the JC Penney warehouse here in Statesville. Just starting out I will take whatever I can get-I have been told that I was very lucky to get on with Schneider. Three other guys in my class tried to get on with them and got shot down. Two of them went with U. S. Express, and the other went to Prime. Thank you all again for the information, and have a good evening.

Sounds good, that means that we should have plenty of work to do. I will get to see alot of the country that I have yet to see. I wish that I could have started earlier, but where I work now wanted a 1 month notice. So after Christmas I guess I will be out on the road if all goes well. Our instructors in school said that you are a trucker after you drive in all 4 seasons. I just hope to do well and make a living. I just wonder if I get a dedicated account if the training engineer I am placed with will have the same type of experience. Thank you and have a good night.

Jcp is good money . Home weekly too. If not more often depending on where you live in relation to the DC. JCP is going through a transition but its a start .regular time at home and it makes drill easy to make and schedule for. I ran it here in ohio for year and a half.

Roger that-I hope to be able to get onto that dedicated account if possible, I live about 12 miles from the J. C. Penney distribution center here in Statesville, NC. I guess we will see what happens. I have just heard bad things from some of the people there now. They say they are very slow and they are running off they're full time help and bringing in temps. I will find out in a little over a month I guess. I have seen a lot of swift trucks at the dollar generals around here. I guess each company just hires whoever wins the bid for they're freight.

Mickey rat has good advice about taking little at the start...
Get some cheap rubber palmed garden gloves, a pair of bib overalls, a LED headlamp. Plan on weather and all that means when doing PTI or hanging chains.
Make mini-carrots your favorite snack food...when you are with your TE try and relax while driving...the really hard bits involve the Q-com and figuring out work-flow. They want you to succeed so don't stress too much. Start regional...know your area, know the short cuts, the truck stops, learn some shippers...once you go OTR it will be months of new and new everyday is a bit harder than playing in your backyard.
Take it all in slowly...be the tortoise not the hare. Speed and miles will come with experience. Don't plan on buying a new bass boat in your first month, don't plan on doing much other than driving and learning for your first few months...putting too much on your plate at the start only means you will spill something.
Be a grinder...find a pattern that works for you and allows you some joy and happiness.

I will be sure to take this advice to heart. I thought you had to take a bunch of stuff to orientation to be ready to hit the road. I am sure I wil hit a learning curve with winter setting in. The recruiter is putting a little pressure on me to do either tanker or team driving. I can see where there would be alot of money in team driving, but the team would have to mesh well.

As a new driver I advise not to team drive unless with a spouse or significant other.
