    Starting with Stevens next month.

I already have my CDL-A (Hazmat and TWIC as well)

I know they have a regular school for new people without a CDL in which you have to pay for the school.

Can anyone explain to me what I can expect if I already have my CDL. Do you just go to Orientation for a couple days and then go OTR with a trainer? Its kinda vague on the paperwork that Ive seen.

Im new (o experience) but have all my documents already.

    TY

you do 4 days in dallas consiting of classes, training on the yard doing backing etc go on the road with the trainers to let them know your skillset basically then you go out for 35 days with a trainer hitting 5 parts of the country 2 mtns without jake one with min 8500 miles then back to tx for 3-4 days in O2. im headed into dallas now to begin my O2 monday

How long since you went to school?
If you have been out of school too long, they will require a refresher course

I was curious about that myself. Thinking about coming onboard aswell. Ive got over 2 years experience. Do the experienced drivers go thru the same orientation as inexperienced?

Yes you would. And if your experience is not recent, you would have to go through the refresher course as well.

Thanks Corporal. Its been about a year but I was told just a 4 day orientation and 2 weeks with a trainer. Whats the road test like with them? Some places want you to double clutch etc.

    Two weeks?
    I'm surprised.
Normally, they will require you do at least the 5 weeks, unless you've worked for Stevens previously.
    But good for you~

No double clutch. The road test will see how well you can drive in traffic, freeways, back and park.
They won't treat you as a brand new driver, but one that should know what you're doing.

    MrClean2k12 Thanks this.

Thank you driver I appreciate that. I talked to a guy today that was unloanding at Wakefern in NJ. He seemed very happy with the company soo far. He just got a New 587. Seems like they keep you riding steady

A Stevens recruiter visited our school yesterday and gave us the drill. Seems okay but he says after your out with your trainer you return to Dallas then they send you out with another rookie for a period. Don't really get the value there.
