I've noticed a lot of ads in the local papers for driver schools...do truckers die too fast or is there really a job market here?
-
If you can find me a way to get on the road without a residence (homeless) or a car, no money in the bank, foreclosure and bankruptcy, with nothing but a bus pass to my name, by all means, let me know where to sign up

Otherwise just shut uip ######

Most guys dont make it in trucking past a year. This for a variety of reasons.Yes there is a market.Once you have a years experience and you keep your nose clean, you will never have to worry about having a job again.I started at Stevens five years ago after being fired from my second job in fivbe years. Now I work for a great local company making 55 to 70k a year with three days off a week.Depends on how bad you want it.

Oh this company is frustrating. Third run going east just got canceled. This is my last chance to get east (I am now in week 5), and can't seem to go east without being repowered. Can't get my counselor on the phone and when so email her it is always abbreviated messages that don't address my question. If Stevens doesn't need drivers then why are they brining in so many for training. I just want to work. Setting doesn't pay the bills. Time to start looking for a company that needs drivers. Any suggestions. Also does anyone know how I can reach Randell? I would prefer email. He is busy too

not your last chance i was in a trainers truck 7 weeks due to the company not getting us anywhere near the west i went back and forth on 80 in penn most of my time on the truck not my fault nor my trainers just the way it works out. i finally got a run to oregon on my last trip so the office pulled us back in with no west coast at all.

We have a double whammy this week. The week after a major holiday such as Thanksgiving is always slow. The momentum that builds freight is broken by a holiday, compounded by all the people that took friday off as well, so this week there is much less freight.
Then add the weather and it becomes a mess.
Be patient. All trucking companies have to contend with the same problem.
Notice how full the truck stops are this week? Lots of drivers sitting because of no freight.
To make matters worse, we have drivers stacked up in areas of the country with nothing moving (such as Cali) while other areas are begging fro drivers. I was trying to find an empty truck to repower an orange juice load into in Florida last night and I couldn't find one to save my soul!
Next week, when all the drivers come off hometime down there, we'll have too many drivers and no loads!
Snow has been causing havoc in PA and NY.
Welcome to trucking.
