Hey everybody. Its my first post, but Ive been checking out the forums for a while now. Im not sure if Im posting this in the right place, so sorry if Im post this wrong. I recently graduated from Professional Drivers Academy in Milton, Pa. and Im heading out to Iowa on the 18th for my orientation with TMC. I dont have any flatbed experience, the school didnt have any flatbed trailers, and I know TMC will train me on everything flatbed specific that I need to know, but I was wondering if there was any advice I could get from experienced drivers so that maybe I can be a step ahead when I get there. Any TMC specific advice would be great too. Thanks everybody.

Keep a clean room. Don't drink during orientation at the hotel. When tightening chains, always stay clear of the anything that can remove your face. And if you like sushi, there is one of the best sushi restaurants anywhere in Des Moines called Aparri. Good Luck, and make sure your load is secure.
blairandgretchen and HauntingZero Thank this. -
Thanks. Ill keep that all in mind. I think I read somewhere about somebody getting fired during orientation for stepping on the grass. Ever heard that before? Could that happen? Also Im thinking about bringing my longboard up for some exercise and something to do when Im off the clock, do you think they would have a problem with that?

Thanks a lot! I've hear a lot of mixed things about TMC , about them being very strict with some of there policies and such. But as long as the miles are good and the pay is too , i can deal with policies, especially after 7 years in the army and most as an NCO i know all about silly policies lol

Well you've got an added bonus for going to TMC then. Something about the training being an Apprenticeship program and military guys will earn even more durring training and after. I dont know the details, as this doesnt apply to me, but one of my CDL classmates was fresh out of the army and was considering TMC because he would make like and extra $14000 or something his first year, but then his wife ruled TMC out because he wouldnt get home enough.
