Obviously, you've really got it going, then. You definately have got something that I dont and I'd sure like to see you in action sometime so that maybe I can learn exactly what it takes to "work the company". Also, based on almost all of the conversations that I have had with other drivers at all the Conway terminals, perhaps they could all get a little of your advice as to what it takes to actually make the company work for them. Sounds like you're dynamite here so, how about getting together with upper management and putting together a lecture series as to how the rest of us "unfortunates" can actually make a living here at Conway? You could talk to ol' Saul Gonzales ( Mark Dahlberg wouldn't be a bad choice either) and tell them that you would like to be the teacher. I might then consider coming back to Conway and I will eagerly sign up for your class. BTW, many of the paid bloggers for Conway (as well as other trucking companies) are drivers. Gotta suplement that low pay somehow.

Its really simple man. When I first got here I was started at $0.34 a mile. And I would run my loads to run on time, all the time. The thing is, they dispatch you so slow, and give you an extra break per load, that it is possible to run 1,800 miles a week. Then I learned to call in to the shipper to move my appt times up. Run hard and get the load there and they might relay it, and things like that. My miles went up to 2,700 a week. That still wasn't enough, so I started teaming. Now I average $1,200 a week. And once a month I make a $1,500-$1,600 check. I am not sure what you do to work 100 hours a week and make 30k a year, but it sure as hell ain't driving a truck. Also you realize we can only work 70 hours in a8 day period? I never had a reset solo and was still making $600-$800 a week.

Now I am sorry you aren't here enjoying this with me. If making good money is unheard of to you, then yes you'll be skeptical. All I can say is, I have made it. -
Now I get why you call yourself low budget.

Hey friend not sure where your getting your info. But Con-Way has increased there pay for drivers twice in the past six months. As for the milage? As I stated previously consistent miles of at least 2500you per ek. And I average between 2700 to 3700 miles per week, with some weeks of 4-k per week. There is no company that can consistently assure a specific amount of miles per wk. Take care friend

But I will agree there are very few that will guarantee miles ...for Teams ..
I will admit I don't know of any that will for solo's..NotTheAverageTrucker Thanks this. -
Ok, so the only way that anybody can make decent money is to team. Solo, you will choke.. $25,000- $35,000 a year TOPS. Anybody telling you otherwise is not being truthful; go to any truck stop and talk to a Conway driver in person. And yes, that is to work 100 hrs a week. 14 hrs a day on duty. Regardless, driving or not, you are stuck to the truck. And now speaking of teams; yes, the money IS better as a team driver. $1600.00 a week is not bad at all. But the conditions one has to endure to team drive somewhat lessens the worth of the paycheck to me. I know, a true "go getter" would do whatever it takes to earn a living. Well, you got me there. Somehow, $1600.00 a week to live in the the same cubicle 24 hrs a day with another human, constantly moving when you are trying to sleep with the driver 2 feet in front of you (not to mention if you DO manage to fall asleep and, God forbid, so does the other driver while they are driving, thereby killing the both of you), makes $1600.00 a week not a significant amount to me. Yep, I know, I guess nothing really pleases me. Well, actually, there is one thing; Solidarity. If all of us drivers could finally realize that all these big trucking companies are totally taking advantage of us and we demand a more fair compensation for everything that we do, then we just might make trucking a career that we can not only survive but, maybe even be proud of. Consider all the top CEO's of these companies. Example: Conway Truckload. Last year, ONE MAN $43 Million Dollars. ONE MAN, $43 Million Dollars. Is this guy really that much better than the rest of us? Is his mother better than your mother? Is he really that much smarter than you? Does he really take more risks than you?
bigjoel Thanks this.
