I know its been a while but I seen a ad in STL Craigslist for a heavy hauler. It was this guy. He said he would start me out at .48 a mile on his axle. I just laughed. I asked to see his 8 axle and said it was going to be in utah for a couple weeks waiting on permits. I asked what the driver was doing and he said he just put him in another truck until permits came in. I said forget that.

J & d trucking is a professional trucking company, we are sorry that the runnin dummy was not happy. We are sorry that he could not follow simple instructions like always weigh your load at a cat scale (at our expense) and he recd to overweight violations due to his failure to follow a basic instruction. We do own a few trucks and a couple our not brand new trucks and are extremely well maintained by us. Some drivers are just steering wheel holders and thats not the type of driver for our industry, ie. Oversize loads.

We had an ad quite a while back looking for a heavy haul driver. We have never offered any driver 48 cents a mile to start. Our heavy haul trucks have never been in utah for a couple of weeks waiting on permits. We would never want to leave a truck setting that long waiting on permits. We have a professional permit service that handles all our oversize permits in a timely manner ie nationwide permits out of ohio. You must have confused us with someone else. Good luck i hope you found the job that was the right for for your needs.

Hmmmmmmmmm..... I detect a challenge. The balls in your court Runnin Dummy.

OH WHERE DO I START....
I guess I'll begin with correcting Caren's above post.
I don't believe that Feb 2012 is quite awhile back as I answered an ad from CL in mid Feb 2012, and Nationwide Permits??? You mean "Axys Permits" out of Ft. Meyers FL... which is the permit service that Mason and Dixon Lines requires you to use, don't you Caren? They couldn't even issue the permits with the correct truck listed.
I originally hired on to drive their 8-Axel, but flew outta STL to pick up an abandoned, loaded truck in Cheyenne, I never did see the 8 axel, only a picture of it shown here...
The truck I was in, a 2000 KW W900 seen here, was in bad need of repair IE Tierod ends, torque arm bushings, drag Link drive tires and an alignment. They replaced the tierod ends, put on 4 drives (when JD himself told me before that I would get a whole set of eight) and did the alignment.... never touching the torque arm bushings which was the cause of the drive tire wear to begin with, there's money out the window.... and with ROAD CHECK 2012 a day away I wasn't gonna get a bad Level 1 on my CSA, and I returned their truck to them.
On a good note... The pay was exactly what they told me it to be... Alas, the problem here is that they continually laid me over, having loads fall thru on numerous occasions, usually on a Friday. Or wasting a day loading a 16' wide load and them not knowing it would need a CHP escort, guess that comes with their "years of experience".
The final straw was getting a 34' long Oshkosh airport Crash Truck (firetruck), on a 6 foot stretch, air out of the tires to get it under 15' tall... loaded, secured and flagged... just waiting on permits. Then when I get the bills in hand, find out that it was a hazmat load and did not have a "Clean N Purged" cert on it.... YEP... IT GOT UNLOADED... yet again on a Friday. I sat until Monday, and with the repairs needed as I stated above, decided to take them back their equipment.
Now here is one that really got me in my Post Toasties....
When we got to Mid America Pete in O'Fallon, MO and got out of the truck, on a small shelf in the sleeper, we had overlooked my wife's family Bible, that contained some of her Grandfather's sermon notes as a Baptist Preacher in South Texas back in the 40's & a priceless picture of her father, who she lost to a kidney disease when she was 3 yrs old... that Bible, up to that point, had driven every mile with us along our journeys across our nation's highways.
We called and asked Caren to send it, and that we would pay for any packaging or postage, she agreed to send it and had it in hand... she stated that she understood what a personal value it had. That was on June 11th... we called to inquire, and Caren claimed to had sent it on the 18th of June...we called again to inquire and again Caren claimed to had sent it, this time mailed on the 26th of June. To this day we have yet to see it.
It's a Family Bible.... it doesn't mean anything to any other Tom, Dick or Harry.... just us.
I guess that just goes to show the quality make-up of these people.
All in all, had I known to look into my crystal ball before working for JD & Caren, I would have avoided them as an employer. -

The Bible was received unharmed... 4 days after above post was made.

Maybe all the fire & brimstone in the bible made it a hazmat load & they had trouble
finding a driver with the endorsement .
