Your conversation compass is so messed up I find it odd how your able to even find the sign in button. You call other people like Meltom out just because he's not a truck driver. I'm sure he knows more about this industry than most of the people on here.
As for telling a driver after 2 years of experience that they need to get more years in and then they'll have a place to talk is absurd. How many year's have you been behind the wheel of a Rig and not a 4-wheeler?
Riddle me that Trucker's Wife.
Stay away from ROEHL!!

Why does this matter? I'm sure her husband tells her what happens with his job, most do..so why can't she form an opinion? You may not like the opinion she has (I don't either), but she has it based on what she has had to deal with. You aren't the only one that has to deal with the company issues, the whole family does. If the pay is wrong, hometime is off or whatever else the issue, it still affects us at home too.Last edited: Oct 26, 2011
Meltom and childerscarl1 Thank this. -
I think that statement is partially based on the comments about me not knowing anything because I'm not a driver.

Bonuses are just that..a bonus..They are not a guarantee. They are only given if you meet a certain set of criteria, and if you don't meet it you don't get it. The pay raises are the same way...You don't get one just because you've been there a certain amount of time. You have to meet the time requirement and the other criteria before you get one. Do I think some of the criteria is wrong? Sure because anything can happen to make make a driver miss a goal, but it doesn't change the fact that we knew that going in because it's all spelled out in the DRG.

So what is a good company, one that actually treats a driver decent?? My husband has been offered jobs at different companies he has checked into, but after finding out their policies and what other drivers have to say, he decided not to, he does not want to jump from job to job, just stay at a place that he gets treated like a human being and do not have to watch each paycheck to make sure it is right.

That could be..I took it as because she's the wife, she wouldn't know anything.

You wouldn't like my answer
He's been at Roehl for 8 years and has never once been treated badly by them..... by a DSR, yes he was treadted bad, and all it took was a phone call into someone higher up and he had a new DSR that afternoon. He has had pay issues, but with a few phone calls to his pay roll rep, they were either corrected (4 years ago they had to do a 10 month audit of his pay because something was put into the system wrong..but it was fixed) or she explain why he didn't get paid for one thing or another. Everything at one point or another has been crap at some time, but they are the best fit for us right now. There is more good than bad for us, an in the end that's all that matters...what works for you.
danny_379, childerscarl1, DrtyDiesel and 1 other person Thank this. -
A good company is hard to define. He's taking the right approach, find out about policies and reputations. If there is something that doesn't check out and is not a good fit for him it's best to pass. I'd suggest taking anything found posted on a forum with a grain of salt, you typically only hear the really bad, or the really good.
Keep feeling places out, I would think most people would be in the wrong by suggesting any company. Everywhere has it's quirks.childerscarl1 Thanks this. -
I can see where you're coming from, if they only knew. Especially in your case, you probably have more miles in a truck than most that post on here.
