Its gotta be tough to make those decisions...you got to think hes managing a multi million dollar company...and the major cost right now is fuel...and that is what is chasing quite a few of the small guys and independents out... so the decisions have to be tough...and the flexibility just isn't there like it used to...not until fuel prices decide to come down...(2013 anybody??)...
as for what Mel said...it is easy to look back on things and remember them as better than what they were...hell for awhile I hated being in Iraq..but now time has passed I kinda miss it (weird I know)...I realized between the bad things happening I had a blast (no pun intended) got to see lots of things and go places I never thought I would go..and made some great friends...but I know there were times when it just plain sucked...but those memories are fading fast..(hmmm not so much...)

I have a much different perspective as an o/o than I did as a company driver. That is why with their new so called fuel discount program I am not only angry and frustrated, but perplexed as well. Their reasoning is that "everyone is doing it." That logic never worked with my mother. Her reply was always "If everyone was jumping off a bridge would you?" Just because everyone does it, doesn't mean it's a good idea. So, why with a driver shortage would you make business decisions that drive drivers away? When demand outstrips supply prices go up, otherwise supply further decreases and demand increases. This isn't difficult, in fact it's economics 101.

The KISS principle (keep it simple stupid) is no longer in effect in todays society. The more complex things are is the wave that alot of companies are riding. It's almost like their wanting to downsize and run people off but yet at the same time they advertising 24/7 for help and its a knundrum and unexplainable. Keeping a driver angry and perplexed is not good. Their doing it to you with the fuel , they did it to me with the cams. There needs to be a safe 7 pointed back at Staff. It could start out with #1. Quit pissin drivers off behind the wheel !!!!
BTW Mic Thx for your service. Don't know the future for Iraq now that were starting to pull out ?? but at least that monster Saddam is gone and Iraq has a choice now whether to embrace democracy/freedom and go forward. The ? is do they want it bad enough. Again Thx for your service Sir.....Last edited: Nov 22, 2011

sometimes pissing off the driver happens. there are many things that go into a driver/dispatcher relationship, oftentimes you'll be at odds. Keeping drivers happy, from just a dispatcher POV, is not always the priority.

Was referring more to the the policy makers not dispatchers. Why don't you get rid of that quote it's irritating. Brown nosing is no way to through life Meltom

I'm fairly certain I don't brown nose. -
I'll just say I HATE IRAQIs...I have my reasons and I will just leave it at that...
snowman01 Thanks this. -
I think I am getting a handle on why management acts irrationally. I don't have time to work on it tonight and I will probably use it to start a discussion in the general discussion area. A lot of it has to do with a warped view of the world and an inability to look within one's self for solutions. I think it is the same problem as the person who constantly dates the wrong person looking for the right one, or the addict who never accepts the real problem is within themselves.

I know you must hate em. i can only imagine the images that you must have in your head of that country and their people. Welcome Home Mic ...
