There is if your driving a werner truck, I don't know if you can even get out of the state in 48 hours with those trucks. My advice, don't drive for werner, or any other company that has Don the dispatcher, and don't drive for companys that have Qualcomm. No reason ever for dispatchers to be rude, we're out here doing the work and they are just maggots watching the clock all day. And don't drive for any company that will not enable you to get in the hammer lane and stay there awhile. If a single driver can get to Vegas in the same time as Werner Team there is something wrong. The single driver of a good company would also make the same money as Werner Team too. Best advice don't go to work for these companies period, there are still alot of smaller companies that will treat you far better, know you by name, pay better and make you glad to go to work everyday.

Yes, I agree IROCUbabe, if you are a student driver for Werner, you are working as a bondman. Find another trucking company that will treat you as a human being and not just a "number". For each student that Werner receive, word is they get 10,000.00 in subsidies from the Federal Government. It's not hard to understand that Werner brings more that 60+ to orientation each week to each terminal and how is it that each student or qualifying driver will get a truck, not possible.

Less driver rollover = higher payroll costs = less profit.
Welcome to the Ferengi Alliance folks.
This situation in this industry is a direct result of lack of enforcement of the laws and regulations. I have said all it will take is a string of bloody wrecks where there is film at 11, and the industry will be fixed.
But not until then, just like the dangerous intersection that needs a signal, but is ignored until someone dies at it. -

I worked with Werner until last week. The biggest complaint I heard came from the drivers at the Indy terminal complaining about the Triangle Run. Most of the drivers on this run were saying they just don't make enough money. The compalint was not enough miles where the driver ran about 400 miles a day and then most of his time was setting around waiting to be loaded or unloaded. (Not everyone got the easy drop and hooks). Turnover rate was exceptionally high as a result. Granted, Werner does have good equipment but if the driver isn't bringing home a good paycheck then they leave.
I worked there about three weeks where I was told by my recruiter I would be earning .32 /cpm. Funny thing happened, I never got a paycheck. I did get a partial check which they said it was for one run. So I asked what happened to the 12 other runs you were trip paked. They claimed never to have gotten it. So, I sent in a second trip pak in which a week later they said they were looking at it. Also, my paycheck reflected a .24 cpm pay rate. Werner said they will decide that rate and not what my recruiter may say. My counter statement back to Werner, but I have 10 plus years of direct OTR experience.
They said they would look into it and would get back with me. The rate of .24 cpm was not acceptable and I quit. I told them, I simply don't know anyone who would pay that low of a rate. They in turn demanded the truck be immediately returned (without any sort of notice) and if I did so they would not charge me for having another driver to come and pick it up. So, they then had the nerve to ask if I could make one more run in bringing the truck back. LOL. I returned their truck as requested.
Whenever I hear the word Werner, I think of dishonest crooks. The drivers are cheated on in every way possible. I made the mistake of not realizing it's all for Werner, for Werner only, and nothing but Werner. The "Werner Cares" slogon is a JOKE, simply not true. Four weeks went by and I never did get paid for those twelve runs. I still get promises on that issue. Agree with the statement here, stay far away from Werner.

Well I guess I'm a lucky one. I work for a guy who has a fleet of about 170 trucks and we pull for Werner. From what I've learned, you don't want to work for Werner. You want to work for a fleet like mine. I avg 2500 miles a week. I avg $700 a week. Some weeks I get over $900, some weeks I get $600. The weeks I get smaller checks was cause I had 3 or 4 days off. Last week I did 3028 milesand that's not the first time, and won't be the last. Twice I've done 3600 miles for the week. Those were nice paychecks for a guy that an my past jobs made $250/week before taxes. Even my small paychecks now are usually twice as much as I used to make. So I guess that's why I can't complain.
My company seems to like me so much that they took me out of my Cascadia and put me in a 2011 International ProStar. This month is my one year anniversary from when I started training. October will be my 1 yr solo anniversary. As of now I have a little over 80,000miles solo. So I guess I'm getting all the miles that the Werner drivers here are complaining about not getting. I'm just wondering how many are not driving smart and not trying as hard as me to make money. I know I have the benefit of having priority over the company drivers, cause my boss has a lease payment to make. But still, I have to wonder are the ones complaining driving as much as they can in a day? Are the complaining to the dispatcher non-stop about stupid crap and just annoying the dispatch to get on their #### list?
I actually over heard one Werner driver at a Terminalsaying he was given a local run and told dispatch it was givin to the wrong truck. Apparentaly he didn't do the shag runs. I do them without complain cause I make an easy $30 for it. And if it is 3 stops, to 3 different Sears locations (for example) I get an extra $50 for 2 of the stops. So I make an easy 30-80 instead of sitting on my ### waiting for the bigger run that I wouldn't have gotten until the next day anyway.
I know Werner is not the best company to work for, but I seem to be one of the few doing descent pulling their trailers. Don't get me wrong, with a little more experience, I'll be looking to go else where for the even bigger paychecks. But for now, as a guy that used to make $250 a week doing stupid retail work, I'm happy. I'm happy that a couple months ago I bought a 60" 3D Plasma. I'm happy in a couple more mo the that I'm going to buy a new car. -
Some things about companies never change or if they do is for the worse.I talk to Werner drivers and have yet to meet one that is satisfied.Werner is deffinately a starter company and the longer you're with them as an OTR driver the lss miles you'll get.In with the new out with the old.
