I have known Werner sucked since the first time I did a OTR run and saw one of their poor drivers try to back one of those classics after they where trained in a frtshkr century. -
I don't blame Werner as a company for not having drivers who can back. Most truckload drivers unless they have years under their belts, can't back into a dock well. Or even straight line back for that matter. The schools should dedicate more than a week so that trainees really can back. Trainers should let the driver back everytime they have the opportunity to. I have friends who have backed Werner trucks in because the driver was struggling and there was a line of trucks waiting to load or unload. These drivers don't have the opportunity to really learn to back well like a city driver who does a peddle everyday does. When you think about how much practice they dont get... Most truckload carriers, as you know are trying to do as much drop and hook as they can, so there again no practice.Baack Thanks this. -
Update;
I called my recruiter today to ask about the letter and was told I am NOT terminated but they still have no answer for me about my background! UGH!
She transferred me to the Director of Compliance and of course I had to leave him ANOTHER voice mail! So, I called my recruiter again and asked her just how long do they expect me to sit at home waiting for him to make a decision? lol
I was advised if I dont hear back from him by tomorrow morning to try and call him again! WTF! -
A truck burns a gallon an hour idling, you are talking 26 dollars a night min to idle the truck for your 10 hour break. 200 bucks a week. I don't know a whole lot of people who go hey look I don't need 200 bucks.
Spend the 200 bucks on blankets and keep warm and pocket it for the rest of the month, 800 bucks a month seems like a good deal to me to buy myself an electric blanket.luvtheroad Thanks this. -
I don't know why truckers hold themselves to different standards than anyoine else in the world. Time off is not supposed to be profitable or even free. The truck is your home and it has overhead just like any other home. Your argument is the exact same one that can be made for any other home. Why have one, why power it, why pay rent. Heck if you can live free why have a job? It costs money to live in a truck just like anywhere else, it's just cheaper. The cost is a gallon of fuel an hour, plain and simple. Try and beat that anywhere else.

Most truckers are not just paying for the truck, they are paying for that house and electric and water also. So you are basically saying hey you are paying a house note, and electric, and water, you can afford 200 bucks more expenses right?

that should be part of the gameplan, yes. If you are O/O make sure its figured into your cpm just like a d/h is.
There is no shortage of testimonies that life on the road can be expensive. You can cut corners but there's no need for your entire life to suck.
If you charge $2 a mile for 1000 mile trip, you're talking about reinvesting 10 of those miles in some basic, BASIC comfort.luvtheroad Thanks this. -
If it were me I would just get an APU, in the long run it pays for itself. However, you do not know what the situation of the O/O was in the quoted post and it is his own personal choice on whether or not that truck runs.
