I understand lots of companies currently operate and/or are moving to automatic trucks so I wouldn’t worry about it unless you know you want to go into specialty trucking where manuals are more common. Or just learn and test in a manual - you might have an easier time learning to double clutch than those of us who learned to clutch autos as teenagers.

Read the cdl manual cover to cover and then do it again. Obviously you've missed some things

Shut the truck off in gear and then chock the wheels on at least one axle. You can then safely leave the unit without causing damage.

4 weeks will give you a general idea of what is required by that company.
You need to learn to think for yourself and it takes more time to become a good safe driver, it takes years to become a professional driver.
You will learn something every day (it may be something minor) but not learning or figuring something out is a wasted day.

The few times I’ve had a trailer brake get hot and start smoking, Ive always set the Tractor parking brake only, get out, and make sure it’s not on fire. Though it’s never happened, if it were, I’d get the fire extinguisher, and put it out. Seems like common sense.

That’s too bad. Being that you’re hoping to get a license to drive a combination vehicle.
