For those of you that are independent and have your own authority, how do you stay competitive and manage to make a profit when fuel prices are so high? Is it easier to absorb the cost when you have five trucks on the road compared to one? Finally, I have been wondering for a while, with so many companies out there competing for the same freight, how likely is it for someone to become a small fleet owner these days?
