2018 peterbuilts. Has anyone come across backing plates doing this? Second truck in a week has this crack.

I lifted the hoods on 34 other trucks in my customers fleet yesterday. All with the new style plate. No others have the crack. The pictures came off a truck with 30k. The second has 105k on the clock. Either way that's a terrible design. We are racking our brains trying to figure out how.

If your brakes vibrate it will tend to crack.

What models are you seeing this on? Are they a large batch or far apart in age? Same side? Left or right?

Looks brake torque related. Seen many stamped spiders crack like that on steerable lift axles. I would be calling Bendix ASAP.
